You don't have to like Donald Trump. Its fine. But to call him "extreme right" is just laughable. Trump is a moderate, at best. He's not even a real conservative. In fact, he's probably the most liberal Republican ever elected president , save Lincoln.

I believe that Trump is more of a centrist than anything. But the idea that so many people believe he is "extreme right" is frightening to me, because it shows how far left our nation has become. Fox News is not even all that conservative either. They are a lot more liberal than I am, for certain. And people think Fox News is far right as well. Its just absurd. Its as middle of the road as you can get.

You are correct in that he is not actually a republican. Why anyone would see him as an extreme right winger is just as puzzling to me as how anyone could think he has christian values. I suppose people sometimes see what they want to see instead of that which is actually before them.

He became a Christian later in life. He definitely has Christian values. He's very flawed and very transparent. There is nothing wrong with that. Many people say he's a modern day Sampson. What puzzles me is how anyone could think Hillary Clinton is a Christian.

She is a Christian. That's why.

Specifically, she is a Methodist.

Trump's grasp of Christianity is very shallow and superficial. During the Republican debates, when Trump was asked about seeking forgiveness, he claimed he never did, but rather would try to do better next time, then added that when he ate the cracker and drank the wine, he was receiving forgiveness. On that last, that would make sense if he was either Lutheran, Catholic, Episcopalian, or Eastern Orthodox, but as he claims to be a Presbyterian, it shows he has little grasp of what his chosen denomination believes when it comes to the Lord's Supper (Presbyterians don't believe that, at all). He also had labored under the misimpression that Presbyterians were evangelicals, until he was told they were a mainline church by Presbyterian theologians invited to the White House. Shocked, Trump asked those Presbyterian Pastors if they were Christians(! !!). Later, he had had a bunch of fundies and holy rollers come to the White House to lay hands on him and pray - hardly a practice of Presbyterians.

AFAICT to the authoritarian left anything to the right of far-left is far-right. It's become meaningless Manichean jargon for the most part.

That's actually not entirely true. I often hang around with communists on other sites. They know the difference between liberals and fascists ... though they dislike both.

Whatever. I'm in the libertarian left. I've made that absolutely clear. Whenever I take a political compass test, I always end up in the bottom left corner.

I'm not a social anarchist. I'm just a social democrat who leans towards liberty.

I don't know Hillary Clinton's religious affiliation, if any, claimed or otherwise. I do not think of her as a religious person.

However I do know that Donald Trump is an adulterer who makes sexually immoral comments, a divorcee, and a man who has not paid those who have worked for him, and all of these things are the anti-thesis of christian values.

I also know that Hillary Clinton did not divorce her husband, despite his sexual immorality and adultery, and her refusal to divorce him is a christian value.

From my perspective, that christian conservatives who have previously let their religious principals guide their candidate choice, would elect Donald Trump, is the epitome of hypocrisy. I expected better of the religious right, to tell you the truth. While I'm not christian, nor conservative (nor liberal for that matter) it was a bit disappointing to discover that the bastion of morality known as the religious right, is not actually religious or right (politically).

Clinton is a practising Methodist. And I'm certain she can sure as sh*t tell that her church aren't evangelicals (unlike Trump).

Perhaps that's why she didn't divorce her husband then. Though regardless, a candidate's religious affiliation is typically irrelevant to liberals because liberals don't claim religious morality as their ideological basis.

From my perspective, religious right wing christians voting for Trump is like left wing liberals...well...voting for Trump.

Actually, it shows the rampant hypocrisy within the Christian right. They would rather vote for someone who talks about how much he/she loves Jesus, even if his/her life doesn't reflect that, while voting against someone who actually wants to care for the least of our brothers and sisters.

I just think Trump was merely an "alternative" to the established order. People got tired of this "established order." They voted for an "alternative, any alternative."

It's possible that Bozo the Clown would have won the Presidency under these conditions.

Trump only talk like an "alternative".

He certainly doesn't make laws like one.

Pretty much agree, but wouldn't say he was an alternative, he just pretended to be that and lots of people fell for it.

Regards to the original thread question- because there appears to be a new young breed of political follower who incorrectly thinks everything is either left or right.

Trump has the political ideology of P. T. Barnum.
