Why?

Because humans aren’t a hive mind.
We disagree and don’t get along and that wont change.

If a hive mind is required to have a nation, how can you manage to get along the other 325 million people in your country?

It reminds me of Foundation and Earth, where Solaria has 1,200 nations, each with a population of one. Bander, a Solarian says (perhaps truthfully) that all society is people trying to gain control over each other and that the only way to avoid most people being subjugated is to have a nation of one.

Your country could survive global anarchy (which I don't think would ever happen). I don't remember where I read it, because it seemed far fetched, but it was some idea that in the event of some irreparably catastrophic global collapse, the super-rich could hole up in Australia and defend themselves from any attack.

Not to mention global nuclear war. Most of the radiation won't cross the equatorial trade winds.

Wasn't this part of the plot of The Chrysalids? The "Sealanders" were able to come rescue the kids because their home (New Zealand) wasn't effected to the same extent that the rest of the world was by whatever cataclysm (nuclear war is implied) happened in the past. I think I still have a copy somewhere from when we read it in high school.

I want to move to Australia, then.

Ooh, what about your funnel web spiders though? I heard they're some of the deadliest and most aggressive spiders on the planet? I think they're found in and around Sydney, but not sure about how expansive their territory is.

Eh, I still don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to preserve the integrity of a nation's borders or people.

But maybe instead of nations, countries downgraded to smaller sovereign areas.

Globalism doesn't mean erasing countries as political entities. Cooperation between nations towards common goals is a good thing (depends on how it's done and what the goal is). The thing is, there are organizations who benefit from the lack of cooperation, and they fear that a common goal might be to threaten their lives of corruption and theft.

Divided we fall.

Perhaps to some. It's also probably considered a "dog whistle", as that term seems to be one of the politically heated trigger terms du jour, I've noticed.

Without globalism my country would have a population of about 200,000 and I wouldn't be among them.

I fear one world government, if politicians are not working against each other then they will work together against us.

This is what is happening with the EU they are taking away our rights.

Perhaps to some.

To people that have a clue. Triggering is a strong emotional response to something, and it's not unreasonable to have a strong emotional response to promoting the reduction in international cooperation and trade between allies. It sounds somewhat academic, but it really means no accountability for criminals, thugs, and oligarchs.

They'll work against us anyway. You can get screwed by the government in the largest empire or in the smallest city-state.

Yeah they will work against us no matter but them working against each other helps us. For instance Russia cracks down on protests in their country yet RT its propaganda arm is doing some fairly decent work on the Yellow vest movement, whilst the French media has apparently been in bed with the government editing anti Macron placards to look like they are pro Macron.

1)the world becomes one.
2)the leaders of this one world become arrogant and negligent again on that one key fatal issue and theres no check and balance to hold them back.
3)the whole planet ends.

Thats the original blueprint. believe it or not.

Not.
If anything, there would be gridlock due to differing opinions and nothing would get done. Oh wait that's the UN.

Why?

Because humans aren’t a hive mind.
We disagree and don’t get along and that wont change.
Relations with China and Russia are getting worse, wars in Africa continue. We are not heading to a one nation world. The Star Trek federation is just fantasy

I don't recall mentioning a world state much less a hive mind. Only the nations would succumb to globalization. I never mentioned what might happen after they do so.

At any rate the fact remains. If nations cannot keep things in and out of their borders they will become irrelevant, and technology is making it increasingly difficult to keep things in and out of their borders so they will fade.

But if the concept of borders becomes obsolete, the concept of countries becomes obsolete, and if that happens, I doubt we're going to be stateless, so in this event there would have to be a world government, and the fact of the matter is there's already a lot of political division within countries, so a world state is bound to have wars errupt.

We had countries long before we had borders or passports.
