I don't think special forces would be really necessary in this case, since special forces are more known for blending in with the opposition and using covert tactics. Here some guys meant to stand out, simply wearing army uniforms and openly carrying rifles would do the trick.

There's already some concern over some members of the police/armed forces being sympathetic to the protests. This would compromise efforts to stop the second "invasion". Hence the need for special forces.

Can't speak about someone's personal beliefs, I was only commenting on appearance. It would take reviewing ones psych eval to say whether or not one was for, against, or neutral to the protests. I was only commenting on the appearance side of things. Should we send in guys clearly marked with M16s or guys who look like the ones protesting wearing a bunch of MAGA clothes and maybe a Hawaiian shirt?

And this is what happens when you have tolerated the intolerance. White supremacy is dangerous. I hope all states will be prepared for this so they can defend their capitals and their congress. Biden will also need body guards 24/7 and must never be alone and be out in public alone.

Right, a special forces unit is like an undercover type of operation. My thinking is that a marked unit would be better in terms of security for protests. That's why I suggested sending in uniform troops. Special forces are typically encouraged to create an appearance to blend in with the rest of a crowd.

My understanding is that more FBI resources were spent protecting the Obama family than any previous president (no need to guess why). The previous manifestation of the MAGAs were the tea party and those airheads attracted the same "type" as the current MAGA rioters.

But given Biden is accused as the "mastermind" of this electoral fraud it does appear he will need similar levels of protection.

I still think marked security would be better for some sort of large gathering. Putting undercover people out might work for gathering of intelligence and reporting threats, but for firing a weapon with a crowd of several hundred or so, helps to know who is on your side and who is opposite of you. If you see two people in civvies firing at each other it makes it hard to tell which is on your side.
