I see Dubya has set the bar pretty high.

Anyway, how bout that "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" business? Warrantless wiretaps? :wtg:

How?? I can't think of one good thing he's done. He put through his awful, awful $800bn "stimulus package" which is nothing more than a spending bill. Not to mention he used the same scare tactics as Bush ("Ohhhh! You better push this through now or the economy will explode!!).

He's also sending a bunch more troops to Afghanistan. I think he's putting the numbers up to 100,000 if I'm not mistaken. In the 80s, the Soviets had 150,000 troops there and they STILL couldn't take it over. We certainly won't be able to do it now. Not to mention that he won't even think of withdrawing any troops from Iraq for quite some time (if he does withdraw any...).

I've also read about plans to ban a bunch of various assault weapons and hike up taxes on ammo and such to ridiculous amounts. It's kind of like trying to destroy the 2nd amendment in a blatant, yet at the same time subtle way.

Well, I guess now he's talking about punishing AIG for giving their executives bonuses with our tax money. I mean the rhetoric sounds good, but with how much corporate lobbyist money he got (even more than fellow puppet John McCain), I'm not holding my breath. I do hope he does go through with the punishment though, so I can at least say "well, at least he's done ONE good thing..."

I can say this though: He's going to get away with a lot of bad stuff in his first term. Just like various world leaders before him, he's going to exploit his cult of personality to its fullest extent.

Well, our motives for invading Afghanistan are quite different than the Soviet's. Not to say it won't still be a dismal failure, but the idea at least is to go after bin Laden and al Qaeda.

I've also read about plans to sell our country to Satan and eat babies for breakfast. Don't believe everything you read.

A populist publicity stunt and nothing more. In terms of the bailout money the executive bonuses are spare change, and the bonuses were included in the executives' contracts before the bailout, so it might not be legal to stop them going through.

Not only his cult of personality, but the fact that with very strong Democratic majorities in both legislative chambers, he has virtually free reign to control the US federal government for at least the next two years.

And our people who die there will be just as dead. Getting bin Laden fulfills our urge for revenge, but does it increase our security? How about making Afghanistan uninhabitable for humans for the next 100 years. Fix it so nothing grows there. Not food, and especially not poppies. Sprinkle the paths to the caves in Torabora with plutonium dust.

No, probably continuing the war in Afghanistan will not increase our security. But nuking them would not increase our security either, because in doing so we would end up with threats from China and Russia, who don't like nukes going off so close to their borders, and possibly even from Western Europe, afraid of our insanity.

Still I have never seen such an attention getter in my life.
He needs to be doing his work and not going on SNL or whatever that comedy show is called.
We are in a crisis and he needs to be working for us and doing the job he has.

Thats why I voted for McCain because he has proven to me that he is willing to work.

Palin went on SNL. He's probably done more constructive stuff in 2 months than bush did in 8 years.

You have noticed that Fearless Leader is constantly drawn to places where people can see and (hopefully) cheer him. Fearless Leader does not want to get behind his disk and spend hours, days, weeks working on the details of his policy. Maybe he thinks he can delegate ALL of the detail work to his underlings.

Which gets us to the Crisis. Fearless Leader chose a lightweight as Secretary of the Treasury. He is an amateur in a job that demands a professional .

I voted for Obama because of the infrastructure overhaul (I am an urban planning major in college, and I am looking forward to many good opportunities).

Normally, I vote Republican, though.

Also, I thought I would increase my chances of getting laid if I voted for Obama.
