i imagine the first humans venturing into asia, and encountering the orangutan, and over the next centuries, building a cult around it. they will immitate it, fascinated by its peace-of-mind (being also one of the most peaceful of the primates)

they wear orange, like the orangutan, and even prefer to sit in a sitting position, similar to the natural sitting position of the ape.

this isnt an attempt at ridicule or anything, im talking, like 75000 BC or something.

anyway, buddhism stresses the need to help and feel compassion towards others, especially those who suffer.

I think you're mistaking it with Hinduism, which is actually quite unfair in that they have the caste system and many people don't want to help the disabled because of the "bad karma" thing that put them in there.

buddhism is NOT like that, even if in theory one's circumstances are determined by one's karma.

Hey ruveyn, i learned some breathing techniques too, must be loosely related, the one i mostly use includes some visualization though.

As for the rest, i'm more tempted to believe in reincarnation than heaven tbh. I've often wondered how come i'm "here" and that i can "see" using those eyes of mine o.O (but i don't really believe in that karma stuff, although it does have some sense to it, i just like to think i'll randomly be put into something else in my next life, hey why not? )

I used to be Buddhist, now I'm agnostic.

Buddhism is much better than many other religions in that it does not just tell you what to believe and punish those who question it. They have proper logical reasons for each belief, and you don't HAVE to follow all of them if they don't make sense for you.
