How can a Christian also be a Republican?

Congratulations. I was expecting that a "Christian" would have countered with that parable within the first page. It isn't necessarily a knock-out blow, though, which makes good Christians of all Republicans.

If you want to go that route, you're simply discouraging investment in businesses that are based in the United States.


Actually if you think it through it would do the opposite.
lower corporate rate attracts business.
Higher personal keeps the money in the company and in the states.
Individual investors tend to chase the easy dollar and the fad destabilizing markets and
blowing up bubbles.
We want to support low Beta rich who provide jobs and stability and discourage the high betas that do the opposite.


Yup. But tax capital gains like normal income (i.e. in brackets) and tax all Wall Street transactions. Don't tax businesses more than 10% (but make the big guys like GE actually pay it, no loopholes). That would be my plan.

The cartoon fail on several levels.
does the agrarian economy require a class of destitute people?
as producers? nope they are poor.
as consumers? again no money to buy food.
as workers? better but if they had jobs they would not be poor.

It is probably a good thing that most people are not true Christians. Otherwise, if everyone were to sell all of his goods at once to give the money to the poor, then there would be no-one to buy the goods.

First of all, if you don't have a job at all you are not poor, you are worse than poor and already screwed up either way. If you do have a job, statistically, you are poor. The world's majority have jobs and are poor. You claim the poor have no place in an agrarian society, as a guy that comes from a country in which working in agriculture is synonymous with being poor I can tell you that's not the case.

If you are jobless poor, the best people can do for you is give you a job somehow or at least education. Free fish is not going to help you there. If you are poor with a job, then the last thing you need is motivation to stop working and free fish is exactly that.

The comic reconstructs Jesus' teachings, they are after-all just fairy tales about charity and are false to how the wolrd really works.

So the comic defends a system that requires an exploited destitute working class to exist?

Was Jesus talking about the statistical poor or the Destitute?
the word in mathew is πτωχοῖς from πτωχὰ worthless or like a beggar.

BS. Republicans accuse anyone of questioning giving the rich tax cuts while cutting the social safety net of being motivated by envy, or of being communists. On Fox Noise, they constantly talk about "the war on the rich," yet talk about the poor as the"poor," as if they really are hardly that bad off.
I'm hardly doing anything to anyone, other than speaking my mind. Fox and the wealthy conservatives have plenty of power to disrupt the lives of ordinary people.
