Some studies have actually shown it can be a viable alternative to other medications used for conditions like ADHD and autism, a safer alternative in some cases.....however I think it goes without saying methods other than smoking should be used.

I agree. And tax the crap out of it.

Why not tax it reasonably...like rational people.

It does work for those purposes, but before the brain is decently developed it can cause some issues (I believe the brain doesn't fully develop in the end? I'd need to do some more research).

Pot is a wonderful thing, but not for kids.

Hmm well I don't really see the problem...and bleeding hearts is just a term people use to indicate its somehow weak to have any emotions about things. Well its running away from the emotions and suppressing them that's weak and I am certainly not innocent of that weakness so this is not a holier then thou rambling.

Drugs like ritilan and adderall can cause some issues to, which is why one should be careful with medications regardless of which one it is..and especially when it comes to children it should be more of a last resort since any drugs in general when used constantly could effect the development of the brain.

Pot is a wonderful thing, but not for kids.

I would argue that recreationally its not for kids, but if it indeed can help some kids medicinally then I think it should be put to that use as well. Also though I think around the age of 16 most kids are likely to be more open to experimenting with drugs and well in that case I think guidence about safety and harm reduction is more important then trying to use moral arguments and such about how wrong it is. For instance if I was a parent I would prefer if my teen has a couple beers at home for instance rather then sneaking out to go to some party because they're afraid I'll get mad. But then in Germany the drinking age is 16 as far as I know so I guess in some cultures my perspective is not so out of place.

True that. I guess that I see pot more along a recreational line than a medicinal one, I'd like to see it sold with the same restrictions as cigarettes (gotta be 19 with proof of ID) and alcohol (same age, strict rules on driving under the influence, etc).

Well the tricky thing with marijuana is it's both...it does have recreational potential and it has medicinal uses. Then again its not such a simple drug as it consists of a lot of different chemicals, and different strains have different concentrations of these various chemicals. The most well known now are THC and CBD...THC has more psychoactive, psychedelic like effects so it causes more of a head change. CBD is more of a sedative effect it basically relaxes you and causes more of a body high type feeling. But there's other chemicals as well, its really just a plant containing various 'drugs' that can be used for a number of things.

Sorry for the bump, but I think it should be legalized. There's no evidence supporting the claims of marijuana killing braincells and all that other propaganda crap.

I wouldn't doubt marijuana kills brain cells, but I'd bet it doesn't kill anymore than hitting your head on something.

Because a lot of people can smoke marijuana until their golden years and not be noticeably affected, while people that continually get hit in the hit will develop brain problems later. A good example is Junior Seau.

I think my martial arts instructor may have mentioned to me perhaps the closest thing to a valid reason for not legalizing marijuana - that it makes people stupid and lazy and causes our country to fail in competition with the global market. I'd differ with him in that it does that to 'some' people perhaps, all or nearly all though I can't agree with that though but clearly wouldn't tell him since he's never wrong.

I've met many people that were made more productive, out-going, and thoughtful by it.
