Do you think marijuana should be legalised?

Pretty simple question, I'm just wondering what is every-bodies opinion on either the legalisation or continuing prohibition of marijuana.
Mainly because legalizing it might help reduce crime rates. If opening up a legal marijuana dispensary in the city I live in could tame violent crime and gang activity here, I am all for it. For my own part, I don't have any use for marijuana, and I have never liked its effects. In fact, I honestly don't know what other people see in it.

I do not use drugs and never have. I strongly oppose others using them. But I can think of no good reason to maintain the current prohibition. It really bugs me.

I wouldn't doubt marijuana kills brain cells, but I'd bet it doesn't kill anymore than hitting your head on something.

What makes you think that?

Because a lot of people can smoke marijuana until their golden years and not be noticeably affected, while people that continually get hit in the hit will develop brain problems later. A good example is Junior Seau.

That does not really indicate it kills brain cells, in the only study that ever indicated cannabis kills brain cells was flawed and more indicated taking a hit and holding your breath for too long might kill brain cells, but that's lack of oxygen not the cannabanoids killing brain cells.

I am very much against children being given ritalin, adderall, and other stimulant drugs. I had a horrible psychotic reaction to ritalin at the age of 11 due to an oncoming depression. It wasn't until I managed to get some prozac that the constant paranoia finally went away. However, I think that stimulants are okay for teenagers.
