Why do people request sources for things that are widely known? It's common knowledge, it's not from some obscure study done by some professor. Wine has antioxidants which are good for your health, but you can get antioxidants from sources that are healthier and have less calories. Alcohol hampers your body's ability to absorb fat soluble vitamins like A, D, K, & E. I dunno about it being good for your liver, but wine has been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease in moderation (again this is from the antioxidants).

@ 91: Merely opinions and conjectures huh? Let's not forget that your source is riddled with conjectures . While opinions and conjectures are a part of my post, I've debunked some of the unfounded claims and gave my interpretation on the statistics. Drug dealers selling to kids on a large scale is one of the biggest conjectures out there. There are no statistics or logic pertaining to drug economy when it comes to that. It's laughable that drug-related murders dropping since the 90's are attributed to laws when the crack epidemic in the 80's was mostly responsible for the violence. Both decades were at the peak of the drug war. So would you like to rebut my arguments with your own or are you gonna keep the government sources coming?

Why would drug dealers sell to kids heavily? They don't have any money and are likely to be much less efficient at stealing than teens or adults. Plus they could get confused with a pedophile, and that's a much easier way to lose against a court than a drug trafficking charge...

They're more likely to recruit kids as pointmen on the streets doing the actual exchange rather than sell to them for the reasons pointed out above.

Exactly. Kids commonly act as lookouts before they actually start gang bangin, so the real problem lies in kids being recruited into gangs rather than this unfounded fear about em using drugs.

Which is more reason to legalize drugs so that they cannot get into such business.

why do people ignore the nuances of other peoples' threads, and then repeat what the other person said as if they were giving a new lesson?
Note that I stated in the post above that red wine has been suggested to be good for cardiovascular (ie, heart and blood vessel) health. My question was about Inuyasha's claim that alcohol is good for the liver. Given that alcohol is a leading cause of cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer, I would like to see sources for his claim that alcohol is good for the liver.

Honestly, given that supply side measures seem relatively ineffective, completely switching to demand side efforts seems like it could be effective just by comparison.

It makes sense when you actually get down to it and the mechanics of it all.

I've smoked majuana a couple of times, it made me think about things such as myself and helped me realize that I wasn't normal and that I wasn't self-aware (Not being normal isn't a bad thing though). That's just me, I suspect that majuana has different affects for each individual. Majuana really isn't that bad, it's actually safer than most of the drugs that are legal. The only bad thing about majuana is the emotional affect it will have on you. Some people get really depressed after smoking it so keep that in mind if you are thinking about trying it (which I don't reccomend.)
As for other drugs.... I'm not sure what to think about them but I wouldn't try them.
But drugs in general are bad in a sense that it will probably bankrupt you. In short don't try them if to you care about your bank account.
