That's not what I'm saying at all, I just don't think people should be getting punished for getting a job, which is what the program currently does.

Looks more like Barney Frank was making out with his lover whom worked at Freddie Mac and Chris Dodd was getting sweethart loans from Country-Wide.

Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.

So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions.

Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie.

Wouldn't surprise me if the guy was getting a compensation package from Freddie Mac too.

Actually, I'm in 100% agreement with you that people shouldn't be punished for getting work. I think people should be ineligible for such programs only after they can attain a comfortable middle class standing. It should be pointed out , too, that people on government assistance receive medical coupons, without which they would be given no medical help at all. If Americans were given universal medical coverage, that would certainly inspire people with preexisting conditions or families to step out of the social safety net. Unfortunately, conservative elements think that keeping people healthy and living comfortably isn't the government's place.
And as for vilifying Frank and Dodd - sure, they don't exactly come out smelling like roses, but at least they thought they could help poor people. It was the big banks, with Republican support, were able to take advantage of the f**** that was left to them, and screw thousands of people over.

Yes, I'm sure Barney Frank's poor lover needed help so badly. More like he and Frank are laughing themselves silly and heading to the bank. Then we have the poor Chris Dodd getting needed sweethart loans from Country Wide, plus campaign contributions from AIG.

Are you f*****g serious? Look at the timeline, darling. The Community Reinvestment Act (which was passed in the 70's) applied to less than 20% of the bad loans given out. It did not force any banks to over-leverage their loans, to chop up loans into CDOs, or to deliberately package the worst loans together, sell them to unsuspecting investors with a AAA rating, and bet against them. Wall Street is a casino, and you should know it.

There are 18 Republican Jobs Bills if I remember correctly that are sitting in the Senate (that have already passed the house), that Harry Reid won't allow up for a vote.

The forgotten 15 are as follows:

The Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act—reduces overlapping and unnecessary regulations on pesticides, thereby reducing costs to both farmers and small business owners. It was described as a government obstacle to job creation. The House passed it 292-130 on March 31, 2011.

The Energy Tax Prevention Act—prohibits the federal government from regulating greenhouse gas emissions, preventing a needless increase in energy prices for American households and businesses and fewer jobs. The House passed it 255-172 on April 7, 2011.

A Resolution of Disapproval Regarding FCC’s Regulation (H.J. Resolution 37) prevents the federal government from regulating the Internet and broadband providers. The House passed it 240-179 on April 8, 2011.
Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act—helps to reduce energy prices and promote job creation by expediting offshore oil and natural gas exploration in the Gulf of Mexico and off the Virginia Coast. The House passed this by 266-149 on May 5, 2011.

Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act—promotes job creation and reduces energy prices by reinstating oil drilling permits in the Gulf Coast. The House passed it 263-163 May 11, 2011.

Reversing President Obama’s Offshore Moratorium Act—promotes lower energy costs and job creation by allowing drilling in at least 50 percent of the Outer Continental Shelf believed to have the most oil and gas. The House passed it 243-179 May 12, 2011.

The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act—promotes job growth and reduces energy costs by expediting the process of getting an offshore drilling permit. The House passed it 255-166 June 22, 2011.

The Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act—prevents the federal government from interfering with a state’s water quality program once that state has already met existing federal standards, thereby eliminating red tape and tinkering by bureaucrats. The House passed this 239 to 184 on July 13, 2011.

The Consumer Financial Protection Safety and Soundness Improvement Act of 2011—improves consumer protection and provides greater economic stability by allowing the Financial Oversight Stability Council to vote to set aside any harmful federal regulation. The House passed it 241-173 July 21, 2011.

The North American-Made Energy Security Act—promotes job creation and energy security by ending the needless delay of the construction and operation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Actually, if you read our posted arguments on this matter, you'll see I've presented counter points over and over.
And I conceded, neither Frank or Dodd came out of this smelling like Roses - - especially Dodd. But the fact remains, they had had good intentions behind their foul up, though they had been blinded by the money.
But none of that changes the fact that the banks had taken advantage of the situation, and of countless ordinary people whose only thought was to own a home of their own.

Maybe Barney Frank and his "lover" were having a threesome with Newt Gingrich.

If that were true, I'd love to see how much longer he'd be a major Republican contender.
Even better would be seeing what kind of spin he'd put on it to explain it away.

As Jack Abramoff, who has recently been released from prison for his intimate knowledge of corruption first hand, had pointed in an interview that no historian is worth a million dollars.
If Casino Jack says someone's dirty, I think that carries a lot of weight, as it's coming from someone who can spot a crook from a mile away - because he used to be the king of crooks.

Wasn't that the total amount about $1.6 million total out of an EIGHT YEAR PERIOD. That drops the amount Gingrich's company was getting to about $200,000 a year, which is kind of a middle of the road consulting fee.

Unless you're saying that Gingrich has grounds to sue Freddie Mac for breach of contract, I really don't see anything here other than the usual smear campaign from the left. Gingrich was a private citizen, he was not a sitting congressman like Barney Frank, whom Gingrich wouldn't touch with a barge poll.

Is it the fact you didn't bother to read, you couldn't comprehend a particular fact, or you just didn't care about a particular fact. The fact in question is that the $1.6 million was the total amount his company made over an eight year period. That drops the amount to about $200,000 a year for Gingrich's company, which is a middle of the road consulting fee.

You have 1 to many zeros, and that wasn't a payment to him personally that was to Gingrich's company, which has overhead.
