I can't seem to understand exactly what feminists are still after and I don't have any personal stake in it, so I tend to ignore the subject.

I have never needed acceptance from gays and I have no reason to believe that seeking their acceptance would benifit my life.

I should add that it is only possible for me to accept a gay person on one strict condition. I gotta go, so I'll finish this later.

replace "gays" with "people with AS", and i do believe that berta's point is rather marvellously underpinned.

WHY is it a sin, or wrong, to be gay/perform homosexual acts? it's dawned on me that i haven't heard a reason, yet.

Here's a start. I've listed some of the other activities that go on in conjunctinon with homosexuality:

Exhibitionism - involves people who are sexually aroused by the idea of exposing their genitals to a stranger.
Fetishism - involves people who are sexually aroused by nonliving objects.
Frotteurism - involves people who are sexually aroused by the idea of touching and rubbing against a nonconsenting person.
Pedophilia - involves people who are sexually attracted to prepubescent children (usually 13 years or younger).
Sexual Masochism - involves people who are sexually aroused by being "humiliated, beaten, bound, or otherwise made to suffer."
Sexual Sadism - involves people who are sexually aroused by causing the psychological or physical suffering of a victim (e.g., "restraint, blindfolding, paddling, spanking, whipping, pinching, beating, burning, electrical shocks, rape, cutting, stabbing, strangulation, torture, mutilation, or killing").
Transvestic Fetishism - involves people who are sexually aroused by cross-dressing.
Voyeurism - involves people who are sexually aroused by watching unsuspecting strangers have sex.
Telephone Scatologia - involves people who are sexually aroused by making obscene phone calls.
Necrophilia - involves people who are sexually attracted to corpses.
Partialism - involves people who are sexually attracted to exclusively one part of the body.
Zoophilia - involves people who are sexually attracted to animals.
Coprophilia - involves people who are sexually aroused by feces.
Klismaphilia - involves people who are sexually aroused by enemas.
Urophilia - involves people who are sexually aroused by urine.

er ok...is this the "whats wrong with gays" thread or the "whats up with Sean" thread?

Um.

yeah, whats up with the big list of sexual/social deviancies, Sean? Like Tom, I have to wonder as well. There's no evidence that homosexuals spawn anymore of that behaviour than anyone else.

I think that attempting to equate the whole queer thing to ethnic and gender based rights movements is worthy of attack for sure. Hmmm, maybe I can use that list!

I don't see the point in observing a so called culture that is based on being gay. People that compare the gay rights movement to ethnic and gender movements may as well argue for some of what Sean listed above. Pedophilia is not necessarily harmful, same with zoophilia. Most damage is caused when two vastly different sized beings have or attempt to have "sex". The "emotional" damage certainly stems from society's distain of the act. Zoophilia?...same thing. I saw a Llama jump on a horse before. So there's the "animals do it so why can't we?" quip again!
But oh yeah,....those aren't popular FADS are they?

I am a feminist because gay people and women are more exposed to violence than regular men. It is true, because why does battered womens shelters only have women in them?
And why are they called womens shelters?
I cant even walk down the street without having stupid men staring at me, thinking that they are superior…

If you had a sister who was looked down upon and if men tried to grab her ass, or if she was in a relathionship with an abusive man, woldnt you get mad and want to beat up those men?
If you had a brother who was gay, would you never speak to him again?
By the way, is that the strict condition?

Of course you need acceptance from gay people, because we all do. They are people. They are everywhere.
What if your boss or teacher was gay and didnt want to be nice to you because you were aspie?

So basically I think that the people who don’t have equal rights are gays, women and aspies. (Plus a lot of other “minorities”) And we should have the same rights as anyone else obviously. But we don’t. And it pisses me off.

i think anything consentual goes. even though you can compare pedophilia and homosexuality, you can't compare a homosexual and a child-raping f***head. feeling attraction toward someone/something is not a crime. acting on that feeling if the other one is not willing, is a crime. having sex with animals is wrong in my opinion because the animal can't say no. havind sex with children is wrong because children aren't ready to have sex or make an informed decision whether to have sex or not. having sex with someone who is the same gender as you, is not wrong because you are equals. in a way, homosexuality is more right than heterosexuality, because it's a more equal relationship.

I tend to disagree with you on the bit about pedophilia. With pedophiles, sex is more about power that it is love, much like a rapist. Like rape, it also scars the victim for life.

Sean, the above mentioned items do NOT reflect gay people, as more straight people do the above mentioned stuff than gay people. Whilst some gay people may make themselves readily known through style of dress or behaviour, most of us do not.

Furthermore, you would find that the great majority of gay people are quite mundane, and we want to live our lives free of governmental and societal oppression, much the same as you.

Fogman is right. I would add that even very obvious stereotypical gay people have as much right to express themselves as anyone else.

i wasn't talking about love, but mere attraction. and pedophilia isn't rape, not all pedophiles rape. the fact we only hear about the rapist pedophiles is probably because the non-rapists dare not tell anyone they are pedophiles. so pedophilia is equated with rape, when it's not really. saying every pedophile is a rapist is like saying every heterosexual man is a raper of women.

lol btw i accidentally ignored you, any chance you know how to undo it? hitting the button again doesn't work.

True, but that does not prevent women from being capable of comitting domestic violence either.

berta wrote:

In that situation, superiority probably isn't even one of the top ten things on the guys minds. Also, I've always assumed that women check out guys just as much and that it's a two-way street.

No offense, but if a guy you were attracted to was checking you out, would you still feel just as indignant as if some reandom old guy was checking you out? I'm asking this to try and understand better.

I have a Sister-in-Law, so I can kind of relate, and yes I would.
berta wrote:

IN that scenario, I would speak to him. It is impossible to avoid coming across homosexuals and the Bible even mentions soimething about that in 1 Corinthians, I believe, and Interacting with them is not automatically a sin. Such a scenario could fall under the strict condition I mentioned earlier.

berta wrote:

I've had such problems from both gay and straight people before and homosexuality (or lack thereof) had nothing to do with it.

From what you've said so far, your feminist veiws seem reasonable enough.

Here's how I can accept a gay person: I recognize that they, for whatever reason, are gay, they recognize that I don't approve of the practice, but I will associate with them if we both can agree to disagree and drop the subject.
