OMFG...a rational statement.

I remember you saying that and thinking that you had basically the same idea as me.

Not entirely, at least by your logic. There is one catch to the scenario I described earlier: If the gay guy is very flamboyant, it would still be best for me and them to avoid each other whenever possible in order to help resist the urge to kick the crap out of them.

right - this has gone beyond a discussion of opinion, and is now officially homophobic, with your talk about "kicking the crap" out of gay men. i draw your attention to the WP rules.

Mods - this needs sorting out, please. and please DON'T lock the topic, as there are plenty of people having an enjoyable and illuminating discussion on here.

no - Marvin the Paranoid Android (hitchhiker's guide).

edit: sorry - didn't see the smiley before i replied, as was too incensed by the threat of homophobic violence.

good one!

Hold on a minute. I am leading up to a point. Is it wrong to be gay? Yes. Is it wrong to arbitrarily commit violent acts against people? Yes. Both are sins. Humans are born with a sinful nature and homosexuality is a sin. There for the temptation to commit homosexual acts is just as real for some people as being temped to commit violent acts is for me. Just as I control my desire for violent and otherwise aggresive behavior, gays can control their desire for homosexual behavior; even if it means a total lack of sexuality just like I don't have an outlet for my agression. Also, I made my previous post because the theme of this thread was not how to get along, it's is it ok to be gay. So let's get back to the debate.

What the hell has violence got to do with it? Can you control your heterosexuality? The fact that gay people have to torture their own lives by missing out on what the rest of us takes for granted makes me sick. Sure it's easy to sit on your high horse and say all this, but you wouldn't if you were gay. All you'd end up doing is suffering the depression of other people saying this to you.

then it might be a good idea to make the point, rather than posting an inflammatory post and leaving it.

your argument is specious - i have still not heard WHY it is a sin. perhaps you'd care to elucidate.

why should they? violence is wrong for obvious reasons. i still haven't heard why homosexual sex is wrong. and please don't quote the list of sexual acts as before, as it's irrelevant, as nothing you mentioned was an exclusively gay sexual act. or maybe you could explain the definition of a "gay" act of zoophilia?

no problem with that, but you still haven't said why it ISN'T okay to be gay.

if i sound like a cracked record, then it's because i have yet to read anything here to answer my repeated question. if i've missed something, then perhaps someone can point it out to me.

I sure don't take relationships or sexuality for granted and you make it sound as if I automatically have it sooo easy just because I'm straight.

No, I'm not saying it's easy. If you're happy to not show any sexuality or try and change then say what you like about gays. But generally I wouldn't consider what you said to be a valid enough reason.

And what is your personal stake in homosexuality? You obviously can't ignore it....

That would work if we were talking about a personal characteristic that's easily hidden. Like religion, for example. Unfortunately, many gay people couldn't act straight if their life depended on it (as occasionally happens). Would you say the same thing about any other visible minority? "Excuse me, but I'm only willing to get along with you if you try and look a little less Hispanic and drop the accent." The other problem with that condition is that it ignores the real world we live in, where straight guys don't feel any shame about expressing their heterosexual interests in the presence of gay people. If I go to a pub with the guys after work, why should I have to listen to them verbally undressing the waitress and keep my own mouth shut about the cute bartender?

SquanderedPotential: I *love* your avatar. I wonder how many people on here know where it came from? I thought the song was a bit repetitive but the animation was still cute.
