Do you Think We Should Start A War with China?
I'm not sure from which hole you crawled out from, Idahoaspie, but that was the most asinine "proposal" I've seen in a long time. You think war is some kind of game where the fight ends in two hours in the cinema? Your previous Administration thought it was that way and now you have two simultaneous wars where many nations have failed to subdue in the past millenia and is dragging your economy down.
You had a generation during WWII that became known as the "greatest generation" because they banded up together, scrimped, thrifted after the Great Depression, and worked together to bring the Allies to victory. You don't have that now. Your countrymen are now mostly selfish, every man for himself and instead of working together during this economic crisis, you have some ret*d Rush Limbaugh telling Republicans to be the 'dittoheads' he so loves in wishing for your current president, and with him, the nation to fail.
You're intellectually incoherent, dishonest, and don't deserve to open your mouth with regards to any sort of "war". Especially when you've never served in any armed forces and know how it's like to be part of the fighting force instead of being some rear echelon civilian cheerleader who knows nothing.

And yup, Europe and India are also tangible threats... And also Russia (neither European nor Asian enough)
If the US went to isolationism, China would starve without jobs to make us cheap toys and worthless plastic crap. Europe would start a world war for the third time. And Japan would try to take over the world again. Britian remain in denial about anyone wanting to go to war until the Bombers were dropping on London, and Africa would be dying off in greater number from AIDS, and starvation without US supplies and medication.

Tell you what: Why don't all Americans who have a shred of common sense leave for Europe, and Europe can in turn ship over all the, uh, intellectually challenged. And you can all huddle up around a camp fire and rot.

and india and pakistan would release the nukes, south america would conquer spain, australia would sink in the ocean, the meteor will strike, sulphur and fire will shoot up from everywhere, and the planet will break apart like an egg, spilling helplessly floating lava into deep space.
god help us, and god bless the U.S.A.

I don't think that there's a consensus, but nobel laureate Paul Krugman certainly thinks it wasn't the war:

"Technically", that would've been Romeo Echo Mike Foxtrot, aka REMF, or Rear Echelon Motherf***er. But I was trying to preserve some semblance of decency in the previous post.
But I give up. IdahoAspie is another one of those inane gun-loving armchair commando types who hail from the South, hold regressive views about the world around his country and lives in his own self-contained bubble of reality perpetuated by the tremendous mass of morons who share his worldview.
I could quote entire paragraphs from the Federalist Papers where your worshipped and hallowed Founding Fathers were quite against the notion of isolationism, but most of your type and kind don't read anyway, so I shan't bother to toss pearls to swine.
The "facts" that you described about the rest of the world around you are quite dated. In fact, they belong to the 50s. I can't blame you for not knowing much about the world around you, because you have the affairs of fifty states to get caught up with. But I'll help anyhow:
China's domestic demand is in fact, growing. One of the main engines that drove oil prices to such massive heights is due to China's ever-growing consumption of energy. Only several weeks ago as part of its stimulus scheme to boost growth and demand within its own borders, it has taken on an initiative that it labels "Go West!", developing the western cities en masse now that its eastern coastal cities have already been quite well-developed, and its goods need a market elsewhere. Obviously since its previous primary market dug itself into a hole of debt, demand could be developed in the emptier, rural central and western regions.
Furthermore, China has already left the low-value, high volume industralization phase behind. The low-value, high volume industralization phase has enabled China to gain capital to invest further in higher value products, which we have seen now where instead of just teddy bears and plastic souvenirs being made in China, almost everything we use now can be made in China, be it LCD monitors, semiconductors and other sophisticated products like IBM Blade servers, etc. Industralization in China has already been changing two years ago, where sweatshops were and are already unprofitable, and well-managed factories that are able to compete have been thriving while the rest have been shuttered.
China is the only country that presently produces sufficient food that is able to feed its entire population. It doesn't actually do that with it, but it could. If USA went into isolationism, you will starve. Additionally, Japan contributes more to Africa than you do. Just that Japan prefers to remain more low-key about it in contrast to your blustering and inane hubris.
That is just about China, which goes to illustrate just how wrong your views are, and the kind of intellectual dishonesty and malfeasance you've been committing throughout this entire thread. I strongly suggest that should you still be in college, you use your parents' tuition dollars better and start learning in earnest.

We in Sweden can grow our own food too (if we have to), I think most european countrys could do that if they had to. And don't introduce USA to the world, they aren't ready yet.

I don't think any of the Americans with a shred of common sense would leave for Europe for the simple fact that they have a shred of common sense.
If Americans are so dumb, how come you keep using all our inventions? I mean, there is a reason why our stuff is so popular and nobody over here cares about what you do. I don't even who your president/prime minister is, and I don't care because it isn't of importantce.
And American could not tolerate your socialist intellectually underdeveloped.

Sorry to bust yur bubble Newater. I don't even own a gun. I don't live in the south. Never did. I am a college graduate, politicial science studies.
This was poll a question, a hypotheticial or what if question on a virtual network board. It isn't real. Included in this question is how we could go to war with China without nuclear war or lots of deaths, like the cold war, or limited conventional, with the intent of ending a brutal evil reigm now dominating and controlling China and its people against their will.
If that is too hard for you and sends you into an irrate judgemental fanatical frenzy, I suggest you stay off these forums.
