Yes indeed, and sometimes devastating things happen during the process of change. Like in the first two World Wars and The Great Depression from the early 1900's, but eventually things get better in the end.

Speaking of weird dates. Both the American Civil War and American Civil Rights movement happened in the 1860's and 1960's, which resulted in two presidents being assassinated and the liberation of people of color who were being oppressed. Concidence?

And yeah I dont think every century experiences the same events, but the Civil Rights and Civil War eras had some very strange concidences indeed.
