Commonalities between penises and rifles: both, when fired, propel material at a high velocity towards a target; both effect matters of life, one by creating, one by destroying; they share a similar shape.

As for them being a small minority, I won't argue that. They do tend to be the loudest, though. And since I have found them at every single range that I visited (post-military), there are enough of them to keep me away.

The "allure" of guns is not nearly that complicated. It's pretty much as simple as "I shoot it and it makes a bang" = adrenaline rush. Exact same mechanism behind action movies - but, you know, real. Or jumping out of airplanes.
