Ironic coming from someone who's views are indistinguishable from those of the Russian state. :nerdy:

While I can settle on a Jobsian "we disagree", I instead can provide a counterexample to prove you're wrong.

In my opinion, besides Crimea, there is no valid historical claim to the territories of present Ukraine.

...you were saying?

Congrats, after three weeks you've managed to ever so slightly deviate from the official Russian position on one issue.

Accusing each other of being a troll or being brainwashed does cross the line of a personal attack.

I may have declared not to moderate but I still can report.

As stated, these were personal attacks and must stop.

Further occurrences may result in the thread being locked.

When recently Zelenski was adressing Polish parliament, he talked about an alliance between Ukraine and Poland, adding that he hopes free Belarus would join, too.
That made me instantly think of this:
Image
The arch-enemy of 17th century Russia.
The historical name is Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania but I believe Intermarium would be a more neutral name, fairer to our Ruthenian partners Ukraine and Belarus - of course if the alliance was formed indeed.
Poles proposing an alliance of this shape may appear nationalist but if it's Ukrainian initiative, I think it would be fair. Of course, anyone joining should be equal partners.

That would be irony of History, if Putin, trying to rebuild historical Russian empire, catalyzed rebuilding of its historical main enemy... (the only one that succeeded to conquer Moscow - but that was rather a funny story  anyway, it's 21st century not 17th, so we shouldn't try it again )

I was joking about the troll comment.Sorry if it was inappropriate.
It was meant in jest and not to be taken seriously.

It is very suspicious about Hunter Biden’s investments in Ukraine , in my opinion . I do not by any means believe we are getting the whole story about Ukraine . But am personally offended that , today heard on the national news that besides all the billion of dollars we are giving in military side to remaining Ukrainians , he just authorized a a multimillion dollar side package to Ukraine. Which is remarkably suspect since his son Hunter has big private investments in Ukraine . I do not mind the military aide , but , the USA with hyper inflation and just coming through a crushing pandemic, ( which closed many small businesses around this country) making us subject to large business monopolies , which many presidents have warned the US people about in our history .

This will cause a Great Depression here . if not a worldwide recession . And Biden got the Congress to appear as if
It was the idea of the Congress that we do this side package . Holy Cow , we don’t even know that there will be a
Ukraine country to send aide to , after this war. To inflict this kind of extra suffering on the US population financially
Just makes No sense to me . Am sorry but after all the Pandemic suffering . I believe Biden has lost his mind , or is to much subject to the whims of corporate and political lobbyists and his sons investments.

I'd guesstimate that almost all very wealthy Americans & very wealthy American political families have investments in multiple countries & that it's not that odd that Hunter may have investments in Ukraine attempting to make money. The trump family probably has the biggest portfolio of international investments. Clinton's most certainly have foreign investments, too. This isn't new or different.

As for $ spent assisting Ukraine - the entire world is bucking up for this, not just the USA. And it's a simple cost benefit: We prevent Russian from annexing Ukraine and being on NATO & the EU's doorstep OR we have to fight the same war for many countries vs. just the one strategic one.

Yup.
If we don't prevent Russia from annexing Ukraine, Poland would be down the line just after Estonia and Latvia - and I don't trust art 5 enough to be feeling safe.
Another self-interest of NATO and particularily US is, if Russia bleeds out in this war, in a relatively limited region, they won't be able to form a second front in Europe when China starts doing bad things in Pacific.
I wish Russia adopted a non-agressive policy... but it's not true under Putin, so he has to be stopped.

I don't spend all my time researching this sort of thing but it's my impression that Hunter Biden is more than anything a pathetic individual with substance abuse issues whose investments would ordinarily be ignored by anybody having a serious interest in international finance, if it weren't for right-wing (and Russian-inspired) trolls trying to make him into some sort of cause célèbre. Almost nobody with anything more important on their mind can give you a detailed overview of criminal acts he is known to have committed, however because his name comes up so frequently everybody in the US just assumes he's an evildoer and that his father's failure to rat him out to authorities is an impeachable offense.
