Fellow Christian here!

I've spoken to some people and they said "I'm not religious, I'm Christian" followed by my gobsmacked expression...

I don't drive but I use my car daily - lol

It's like some people want to be in a small crowd where they can agree on the same thing, I feel this would be better on a forum based on this entirely. I just don't like any religious person practically trying to preach to me. I just think of them as a nutter. I find it's only Christians who preach. Not all of them, but I've noticed that it is them.

For me, there are too many problems with the bible.

Incest! ....

Adam and Eve being the ONLY 2 on the planet, come together, create a family. To continue, incest MUST happen. If this is the case of Adam and Eve, then where do those of other ethnicities fit in. Asian, African, Native American, etc....

On this alone, the bible accepts incest which is frowned upon my many later down the years.

I actually feel your point wasn't thought completely through.
1. I agree, this site is seperated for people with ASD or people who want to know about ASD. But, nonetheless seperate. If I opened a profile and did nothing but bad-mouth and make derogatory statements towards ASD I would be banned Therefore it is segratory.

2. But back towards the point of the original post. They wanted to know if anyone is christian becuase they wanted to talk or connect with them. Lets suppose you had a special interest of, lets say tractors. Then lets say you wanted to talk/connect with someone who also likes tractors so you could have an in-depth conversation. Which of the following two posts would make more sense.
- Is anyone interested in tractors. I would like to talk too and connect with some one who likes tractors, so we can discuss. or
- Does anyone who dislikes tractors want to connect and talk about how great tractors are. (It doesn't make sense.)

Really??? Wanting to communicate with someone with similiar interests is segratory? Really?

Considering the post count was very low, I would have to say "no" There are some spammers/trolls around who want to advertise or whatever. My original post was basically pointing out the "impression I received in the original post"

I'm just saying, sometimes it would be nice to talk to other ASD Christians about autism and spirituality without having to contend with an argument over whether God exists at all. This sure as hell can't happen here in PPR, and I don't think there are any other autistics at my church.


It's not a matter of law protecting religion in any way... just of maintaining community standards and some level of mutual respect, enforced only by social protocol rather than by the government.

Now that is a little different. I certainly do not think such an area should be set aside for christians, but maybe a 'spirituality' thread. Perhaps with a request for civility, understanding and acceptance posted at the door.

Even so I find it difficult to imagine that such an area would be a bastion of peace and tranquillity. I just cannot imagine pagans, witches, wizards, satanists, christians, muslims, buddhists, hindus, bahai et al, with all their component variations coexisting in acceptance and understanding, unless of course an unwary scientologist or two foolishly enters the room, that should at least unite everyone in derision

No offense caused by your post, embrace your self delusion to your hearts content, this I have absolutely no issues with, in fact I do envy your little bit of peace. I was having this exact conversation with a deeply religious dying client (he knew I was atheist).

I only ask one thing of you, enjoy your religion but do not try to inflict your religious beliefs onto others by way of laws and social requirements; not that you have shown any inclination to do so, this is just a general request for anyone of religious belief.

I very much side with ORWELL here! It seems to me that anytime anyone posts anything even remotely spiritually based in the Politics, Philosophy & RELIGION forum it serves as an open invitation to those opposed to such belief structures to openly mock and deride the "self delusional" little morons. That one might disagree with the perspective of those with faith I take no issue with; howsoever, to utilise an others revelation as an excuse to humiliate is just flat rude, roughly akin to speaking ill of someones mother, or in legal parlance "fighting words".

Although I can see the efficacy of a separate "faith" forum, to some extent PPR IS that forum, albeit lumped in with politics and philosophy. At minimum, I think it appropriate that when a poster indicates they are looking for responses from a given set of individuals, that wish should be respected. I personally find it creepily voyeuristic to even click on women's, kids or adolescent forums, and when a poster requests only the opinions of the officially AS diagnosed, I refrain. It's just good manners.

I'm Christian, more specifically, I'm Catholic, but I don't come on Wrong Planet to talk about Christianity or to meet other Christians. And besides, I'm not an ordinary Christian and I have beliefs that many Catholics and other Christians would find blasphemous and heretical. I love many religions and incorporate some of their ideas into my life along with Christianity. Ordinarily I stay away from this forum entirely, but I got side tracked by another issue being discussed here via a link in another forum and just happened to see this thread.

The folks who say believers are fools are not really interested in being quietly civil, and most "believers" seem to still be intimidated into silence even if they are. But since nobody here can pull me through the screen and eat me, I continue on!
