I became interested in Scientology when it was Dianetics way the hell back in the 1940's and tried out their procedures with a friend before it declared itself a religion. It was nonsense then and still is, but it has become much more vicious. But what is frightening is not Scientology which is obviously a scam but that there are so many gullible idiots eager to be screwed. All religions munch on these poor mislead people and it's sad that humanity has so many of them.
Same with my late Dad. He was at first attracted to the movement because as a science fiction reader, he had been well acquainted with Hubbard's fiction. He dropped out before it got turned into a religion, because he recognized that the people running it and their ideas were plain nuts!
