And if you were interested, you would have read the article and understood that they did mention that there are antichrists mentioned in the bible but the strictest definition of such is that it is people who oppose Jesus Christ. They also said that there are mention of angels. Just not how popular culture portrays it.

There is one passage for sure where an angel had wings (several pairs) and glowed. Of course, it was also covered with eyes, and had multiple faces. (Ezekiel)

Whilst some Angels sort of glowed, blue I think, the eyes and the faces you mention from Ezekiel isnt an angel, its Gods chariot, it had wheels within wheels, and the wheels wher covered in eyes.It also had 4 faces, a Man, a bull, I think a Lion and an eagle?

Is that what it was? I thought it was covered in head to toe with eyes or something. Oh well.

I can't remember exactly. The wheels were covered in eyes. The wheels symbolize the nature of God. The wheels could go anywhere--up/down, back/forth, side/side, any direction--while still facing forward. The eyes represent God in the sense that God sees all, knows all. It was by the sign of God's omniscience that Ezekiel could recognize that the vision came from God.

I digress.

well that's no help if someone's trying to figure out wtf you're on about.

after wasting so much time reading your digression, i expected to find at least one reference to this "THE Antichrist."

@nambo what language is your bible in? how does it match up to mine? 'cause mine takes some interpreting. i'm pretty sure most bibles don't interpret themselves. i mean, it would only take one of those magic bastards to put the pope out of work.

You quote-miner, you!

Revelation Chapter 13.

revelation chapter 13 doesn't seem to mention the Antichrist. I saw some pretty awesome monsters though. You guys creep me out sometimes.

@Nambo
it's a collective project. You can submit as many verses as you want and the idea is to take the best for each. If only these damned monsters you guys are waiting for would show up and unite the world, already, we can cooperate on more important things than translating the bible into lolcat. Though, along with Klingon, it's probably one of the only languages that no one's been killed for translating the bible into.

The beast from the sea? To whom all authority over the earth is given by the dragon? The dragon is identified in chapter 12 as Satan. THE Antichrist of the end-times is represented by the beast from the sea in chapter 13, and chapter 13 tells us that the beast takes on the role of a single world leader. Chapter 13 goes on to tell about the beast from the earth, often referred to as "the false prophet" who works miracles and makes an image of the beast from the sea that does some fun stuff and which is to also be an object of worship. It's not necessary to name the beast from the sea as "antichrist," that is, using those exact words. "Antichrist" IS defined elsewhere in the Bible as any person who opposes Christ but special emphasis is given to those "false-christs" as being antichrist. Those are not people that necessarily deny Christ, but rather paint themselves as having the role of messiah and deceive people into believing an incorrect message. Because of the godlike position of authority the beast from the sea will have and because of his opposition to God and Christ, he is from the earlier definition an antichrist.

so..... you're saying that the antichrist you keep referring to is not, in fact, in the bible. rather, the part of the article about "the antichrist" not being at all what most christians (such as yourself) imagine it to be was completely accurate.

thank you for wasting more of my time and reasserting the hilarity that is the gap between christians and christianity.

I can tell you why the steriotypical devil isn't in the bible
cause he don't look like that

what you see as the devil is actually a pagan god called Cernunnos
Christians just thought it looked evil and wanted to undermind some pagans so stole it

Here are some of the beliefs with are popularly attributed to the bible but are actually not.

"To thine ownself be true" FAIL that was from Shakespeare's Hamlet.
"All animals boarded the ark two by two" FAIL the bible says the clean ones when in sevens
"Jonah was swallowed by a whale" FAIL the bible says it was a big fish
"God helps those who help themselves" FAIL that was a quote from Benjamin Franklin.
"Jesus was born on Christmas Day" FAIL totally inaccurate Christmas Day was originally a pagan festival of Saturnalia.

And two pair of each of the unclean. Must have been pretty crowded on that little ol' gopherwood boat...

Cerunnos was a Celtic deity, commonly co-opted by modern-day Wiccans (you do know that modern Wicca dates back to about 1957, right?) to represent a male counterpart to the Triple Goddess. He was generally depicted as appearing mostly human, with the antlers of an elk (European, not Roosevelt), and was frequently associated with the Wild Hunt. The common depiction of the Devil as a red-skinned humanoid with goat legs, small, pointy horns, and red skin owes more to depictions of the Greek god Pan, as well as the actual appearance of goats (associated in European folklore with virility, goats were said to whisper in the ears of the saints, tempting them with tales of the carnal pleasures they had forsworn).

Noah would have also needed to be moving faster at rounding up all those animals from all over the world than Santa Claus did when he needed to deliver 4000 toy deliveries per second on Christmas Eve

#5: Angels
These actually are mentioned in the Bible, but are described as much more alien than the way they are portrayed on today's christmas cards.

#4: The Devil is red and has horns, a pitchfork, and goat legs.
That's right. This is nowhere. The idea of the devil looking like this may come from that illustration in the devil's bible.

#3: The holy grail
This wasn't specifically mentioned, but presumably Jesus and the disciples had to drink from something. It doesn't matter, because the holy grail, if it existed, is most likely dust by now.

#2: The anti-christ
This character is mentioned in Revelation, but I don't remember if it was called by that name or not.

#1: Hell
Hell is actually in the Bible. But you would be right in saying that the Bible is surprisingly vague about the afterlife.

You're confusing the anti-christ with the false prophet. The anti-christ is anyone who opposes christ. So, I would, theoretically, be an anti-christ. The false prophet might be an anti-christ as well but the more important part in the literature is that he is the false prophet.

Revelation mentions two beasts--the beast from the sea and the beast from the earth. It is believed that the beast from the sea represents THE antichrist of the end times and the beast from the earth represents the false prophet. Read Revelation 13.

In a literal sense, yes, anyone who opposes Christ is anti-Christ. But I think that more properly an antichrist is deceptive and may even present himself as having a true gospel contrary to what we know and accept. To that end, the anti-christ might have been embodied as Gnostic, Arian, and other heretics and cult leaders. Hitler would not have been an antichrist in the same sense because his methods weren't centered on religious ideas or motivations. David Koresh, on the other hand, led pseudo-Christian seekers through false teachings, which more-so qualifies him as an antichrist.

The only thing that bothers me, though, is I actually think Koresh might have honestly believed he was the Messiah. I think a "truer" antichrist is probably well aware of what he teaches being contrary to the gospel and does so for personal motives. I think Charles Manson is a better example of the model antichrist, especially given the sway he had over a tiny few. The Bible also mentions that there will always be false teachers and instructs Christians on how to know the difference.

The beast from the Sea, (the sea being the sea of man), is a United One wold government, possibly this "New World Order" all the world leaders are pushing for.
If you read Daniel, you will find beasts in the Bible refer to kingdoms or governments, Read Rev 17 where you will see the 7 heads and 10 horns of this beast are Kings, all joined onto the one body.

The second beast from the Earth, (stable part of mankind), has two horns, each horn represents an individual kind joined onto the one body, this two horned neast is the one that keeps pushing the rest of the world to create the imagine of the first beast and to worship and submit to it.
It is quite possibly the Anglo/American world empire as this is the one that keeps on about the New World Order the most, it is also the one that keeps forcing "democracy" on every one, (looks like a lamb, but speaks as a dragon).

But if a single world government is evil, why do so many Christian leaders push for the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth? Wouldn't that be a "One-World Government"?
