I always thought the old man provided one of the most philosophically interesting points in the book, if not the whole point of the book in a way.

Again, Beck has said this isn't about the 14 year old boy, this is about the man decades later not feeling some remorse for the things he did.

If Soros had said something to the effect of making sure something like the holocaust never happened again, then there wouldn't be an issue. However, he's saying it was the happiest time of his life, for goodness sakes.

The interesting thing is there a pattern, first Beck is called a racist, then an antisemite, then an accessory to murder, and then an antisemite again. At this point, it looks like a smear attempt conducted by the three stooges, or wait that would be insulting the three stooges.

Why did you choose the old man over the young one, because he lived?

What does this have to do with the topic?

The scenes he referenced or my question? The scenes relate a conflict between survival and impractical(i am using this loosely) principles. My question is an extension of that and is related by virtue of being related.(<.<)

How about you get over your hatred of Conservatives already.

I think my hate/fear is justified considering the irrational demagogic nature of the modern conservative movement. Irrational demagoguery generally leads to tyranny. It's happened many times throughout history. I've also had the misfortune to witness the unabashed hatred of right-wing teabagger s**theads first hand. They view anyone who disagrees with them as the enemy they make themselves my enemy.
How about no. Drop the sense of entitlement and self righteousness, hatred isn't justified because you disagree. Looks like you're projecting yourself onto em when you say "They view anyone who disagrees with them as the enemy they make themselves my enemy.". Remember that PM you sent me? Think about the hypocrisy in that before you accuse right wingers of being hateful or violent. I sure as hell don't wanna hit you in the face with a shovel, I'd much rather shake my head.

Sense of entitlement? What the f**k are you talking about you prick?

Also, I would like to take a shovel to the head of all bullies and the people who side with bullies and join in in kicking the victims when they're down. Yes. I am an extremely angry person, due to the way I have been treated in the past. I would not hesitate to kill a bully if they were to present to my face now.

I'm talking about how you think you have the right to be as hateful and violent in your speech as you wanna be, yet that's exactly what you call right wingers out on. Your sense of entitlement is exactly what leads to this attitude.

You say you want to hit someone with a shovel and then they call you out on that, and you get offended because they call you out.

If anyone is behaving like a bully, it is you.

That is, perhaps, the most sensible statement made in this thread.

I don't believe I am entitled to be hateful. My hate may be wrong but it is not a choice but a reaction. Also, I am not being paid millions to broadcast my hate on air. Not that I even think right wing pundits are hateful in the emotional sense as they more likely have no emotion. Instead they emanate pure cynical phoniness. They are simply deluded bigots who use demagoguery to hurt in a cold and calculated way, just like bullies. This is worse than hate in my mind.

I think he dies later in the book....of old age.

As far as why I choose the old man, mainly because he values life the most and sees war and killing for the absurdity it is.

I don't think there's any accusation that he's an anti-Semite so much as that he's a disrespectful, uncouth moron for constantly referring to the Nazis and the holocaust for his cause.

Really, the only hate I've seen is pundits on the left. Limbaugh can be obnoxious but he is not a hate-monger. I've already posted up articles about people on the left publicly wishing people would die while they laugh maniacly. I have yet to see Glenn Beck actually wishing someone dies.

In all honesty, any trace of bigotry I've seen by pundits on the right, pale in comparison to what I see on the left. You sent someone a message on this web board saying you want to hit them with a shovel for goodness sakes!

However, it is unclear exactly what “editorial standards and practices” would allow another on-air personality to openly wish for Sen. Jessie Helms and his family to contract the AIDS virus, and keep their job.

The comments were made in 1995 by NPR host Nina Totenberg on the weekly television show Inside Washington. Of course, Totenberg still works for NPR.

I really don't want to start quoting and providing articles proving that you assertations that these false accusations directed towards Beck never happened to be disingenious all over again.

It has video, right now I don't know which is more sad the fact the left engages in these smear campaigns or that they then play dumb when they get caught doing it.
