Both my son's have AS. So Iam both Asperger's, and a parent of others on the spectrum.

I am of Anglo-Celtic and Aboriginal descent, that makes me an Indigenous Australian.

This is getting rather silly.

Also, off topic.

Hello Everyone,

Here is a quote I found in; Awakening The Buddha Within, by Lama Surya Das, p1.

"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology.
Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from
the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity.
Buddhism answers this descrition......If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism."

-Albert Einstein-

Einstein seems to uphold the spirit of a comparative religious view.

Have a nice day!

Sarva Margalam! May virtue ensue!

I am just somewhat exposed to Buddhism and find it very interesting. It seems to have an analytical quality to it that I like.

So far I have read The Compassionate Life by The Dalai Lama and Essential Buddhism by Jacky Sach. Some day I'd like to meet teachers in person to learn more. While I find the philosophical side to it interesting I'm not sure what I think of the more religious side dealing with things such as Reincarnation.

I would also like to understand more about Meditation from a teacher.

Hello Videodrome,

No matter who the teacher is, check out their lineage.

If they have published books- read their books before becoming involved.

Just my opinion, but I think it is possibly better to make contact with ethnic Buddhist teachers. The living tradition is best to receive instruction from. Also an ethnic teacher that has experience living and/or teaching in the west.

All the very best!

That's a great quote, I posted it in another part of the forum.

The radiant Buddha said,

"Better than a meaningless story of a thousand words
is a single word of deep meaning
which when heard, produces peace."

-From the Dhammapada; Sayings of the Buddha-

Wouldn't it be wonderful to develop such a skill. I am not there yet, but with practice I can improve.

All my very best!

Today I am posting an old, and yet timeless Zen Haiku.
It stays as freash today, as it was in the very moment it was recorded.

"The temple bell stops,
but the sound keeps coming,
out of the flowers."

-Master Basho-

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Thanks, that is a wonderful quote. I will put it on my desk next to my art supplies.
I was on a hike a couple weeks ago and there were butterflies all over - it was completely silent, but I "felt" them singing to each other. I imagine the Haiku to be something like that.

Here is a spiritual song by the Indian Master Padampa Sangyay.

"That which is nothing at all,
transforms into myriad forms.
When one recognises the single essential nature
through all its manifestations,
Non-duality is grasped."

Have a beautiful day!
