Most of you are intelligent. I KNOW you know when a comment is on topic and when it is off topic. I am simply asking that if you post a comment please keep it on topic. That's all I'm asking... wow. It's like sitting in a lecture hall where the topic of the class changes every 3 minutes. 8O

That's the thing. It isn't a lecture hall here.

Stop insinuating I'm the one giving the lecture. I'm sitting IN the audience listening to the conversation of these threads. I'm asking people to please not change the topic.

Thank you for sharing that Artrat. Can you source those statements? I'd like to read The Vatican's official response.

P.S. As a side note The Vatican is a part of Hinduism as Hinduism is part of paganism. They are all flavors of the same type, all spawned from a single source: Babylonia.

Here is proof that a vatican condemns a film that is obviously fantasy. This is not from a theist or atheist website.

I don't have the Vatican's official response about their opinion on a film but this is a reliable news source.

Thank you.

I'm removing myself from this thread. I don't care. Do whatever you want... Run the discussion into the ground...

It is this sort of statement that derails threads.

@Everyone else.

The very worst thing you can do when discussing a subject with a JW is try and kick their views around. When communicating with them you need to appreciate that they have their own culture of conversation. When they take a bite out of you or present their own views, it is just their way of starting a conversation. They see it as an invitation, not necessarily as a challenge and as a general rule, they take a great deal of effort deciding what to talk about. They want to talk about what they want to talk about; generally speaking, that does not involve challenging their preconceptions. One thing I admire about them is that they place a high premium on apologetics. I have had serious discussions with them on major points of divergence, but as a general rule, they will not do it in front of people as they are taught to value the position of being the one who directs the conversation. Either accept that this is how they generally do things, or insult them, fair or not, it is your choice. If they want to talk to me, then it has to be open slather, and they wont do it in public, then they can contact me individually. It is their culture, to do as they do, I can respect that, even if it is radically divergent from mine.

I am not surprised the vatican tried to slur the film because it goes against genesis. In particular the part that says that man: "have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

The pope is backwards, not the film.

I wish I knew more about hinduism. But I always thought Avatar (the film) had its roots in paganism and worship of nature.

The Hindus have 36,000,000 gods. Lots of fun.

How do they know which one to worship? Do they all have one each?

They pick the one they feel associates most with them such as a policeman worshipping Hanuman (the perfect devotee and the most duty-bound god), or it can be a situational prayer, such as students praying Ganesha to get good exam results (he is the remover of obstacles ^.- ). Still, there are at the very least 3 major cults in Hinduism : Shiva's, Vishnu's and Durga's. (The latter one can be a bit dangerous, they're the ones typically shown in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, they get spiritual power from "breaking" rules)

Interesting. I suppose it is better than having one hiearchical god.

I don't own WrongPlanet.net, but I did start the topic therefore I own it.

No, I don't think it works that way.

Yes, I understand JWs don't like to be taught by others with different sets of beliefs from theirs, and they're even encouraged to just run away when it happens, but they have to understand that it's also fair for us to refuse to be taught irrational crap by them.
