I believe God is possible, although I have no direct or material basis for the belief. I think my ancestors, Abraham, Issac and Jacob came into contact with advanced beings whom they took to be God. Maybe. Perhaps. Possibly. But not known for sure or even probably.

As for myself, I have no evidence to support the existence of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and I deny completely the literal truth of the creation myth given in the Bible. It was a good tale for Bronze Age dudes to tell while sitting around the campfire, but it surely is not factually true. The evidence against the literal interpretation of scripture is abundant and overwhelming.

Good question, I don't know exactly why I never thought of it like that. Though it could be because of the fact that I've been bought up to believe in monotheism, at home and school. I've only recently been aware of other possible Gods like Zeus etc ... Hmmm.

I don't believe in God, but I "do" God.

I pray (not to ask God to do things, but as a sort of coping mechanism), and I think of God when I have a transcendent experience.

But if you're asking me if I claim that a god exists, no I don't. I'm not even sure how we could tell. I am convinced that no supernatural events have ever happened. So if there is a god, he made the universe and then took a hands-off approach from there.

Yeah, that's the reason. We are all brainwashed by living in western culture to speak in certain terms.

It's even on the money now. No gods, no goddess, just god. Brainwashing.

I don't think "God" is earnestly listening to prayers, then pushing meta-physical buttons and pulling gossamer levers to grant them like wishes. We had been given all we needed as a species, whether evolved or divinely created. It's out fault we have culminated where and as we are.

How can God know and not know the future at the same time? How can prophesy and freewill coexist?

I have a GPS unit in my car. I can choose a destination, the unit figures it out, then shows a rough map of the journey. Until I zoom in on any specific part of the route, I don't know the details. I can choose to not know the details as well, and simply follow the red arrow. The knowledge of all the details of the trip are all right there, but I can choose my level of awareness about them. Can a god do similar with a reality created by that god?

I don't know about brain-washing. More conformity/learning, as the way we think can be influenced from a young age. I just think it depends on what you're exposed. If you're around theistic people you are most likely to be a theist of that sort. Luckily, exposure to schooling has taught me to question these things, which then caused me to internalise the idea of atheism.

Brain-washing is usually considered a negative thing, which is true when it comes to extremists, because they are conditioned to be ironically destructive. This is where religion and obsession over God(s) cause more harm than good.

Not in the slightest. I do my best to believe in things with evidence, or even a line of logic that could support it.

As of yet, I haven't seen that for any religion.

I am an awesometheist.

I worship the cult of awesome.

If god exists, he must be awesome.

I myself am 100% awesome.

Since I am awesome, you got to wonder where the awesomeness originated.

Well duh, it came from god, cause he is awesome.
