I am a secular Christian and here is what it means.
I'm sort of the same in some aspects of Christianity. I dont believe in forcing my opinions on others and I expect the same in return(don't force your beliefs on me). Most Christians I know hate pornography, hate gay people, hate violence users etc...Jesus said hate the sin not the sinner and with that in mind I don't mind if someones gay or bi(one of my friends is gay and someone i know in real life is bi) or watches porn(I watch some things but it wont convince me to rape someone or whatever), heck I don't even mind violence(just as long as your not hurting others)
as far as voicing my opinion/belief on others if their not willing to listen whats the point? Isn't that just causing their hearts to get harder? even Jesus said if someones not willing to listen to you, pick up your bags and leave.
However I do have to say this if you start attacking me or some other things that I'm personally not ok with I probably will defend myself(most of the time I leave my faith out of it unless absolutely necessary like if someones attacking my faith/forcing their beliefs on me......Ill defend myself, and usually come up with some scientfic arguement(assuming their using science) to back up my opinion, but in general Im pretty open to things and other beliefs so to speak
.
Also if anyone has any questions though regarding my faith I'm willing to answer as long as its no attack. I find the whole forcing beliefs upon others is bullcrap/bs and quiet frankly that's against the Bible's teachings. Yea the Bible can be hard to understand but in my opinion it takes an open mind and one that's quiet frankly sometimes illogical to understand some things until reread in different perspective(which is often the case where other Christian's get their beliefs somehow to force them down on others).
For example many verses seem to contradict each other or are very figurative and this is where most Christian's go off base(i KNOW many churches which base their entire doctrines on ONE verse or ONE book in the Bible and completely ignore the rest and when issues come up like someone looks into other books the elder board beats around the bush or kicks that person out of the congregation...) I know its the same case in my own church they study very few verses and get mad at me for accepting gays etc, when I turn right around and use the Bible against them(Jesus says hate the sin NOT the person whose so called sinning), can you say my church hates me?
Anyways that's my opinion(s) in a nutshell(I could go on, but I won't do that unless asked)

Not to get off topic, but I couldn't help but notice you're from Spokane. I live in Spokane Valley. Who knows, we might have been in the same line at the store, or have gotten a burger at a fast food restaurant without knowing we'd one day be members of WP.
Do you mind if I ask, which church has been unaccommodating toward your views toward gays?

Hi Bill to answer your question its Valley Bible Church. Why do you ask?
My mother loves it because its something old fashioned(not so much in how you dress and talk) and hence something she likes because that is how she was taught.
We disagree on things/views and fight a-lot but I still go(I like the kids and the sports as I said and I don't mind my Youth Pastor since he's more into Science and logical thinking and such but I'm not the type to hang outwith him in youth group etc).

I attend Hope Lutheran Church in Greenacres. As my congregation is affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, the official stance isn't exactly pro-gay, though there are enough members beside myself who refuse to accept homophobia. I can't recall hearing any sermons from my pastor regarding homosexuality.
