You support fascism. If a fascist party ever came to power again, you'd be one of the first groups they'd look to get rid of. Fascists hate any sign of difference or creativity of thought. Everyone must think the same, act the same, be the same. No-one can be different. Anyone that is, gets severely punished or their family attacked or ends up murdered. That's what fascism is.

It means that if you don't agree with the prevailing ideology, you have to keep quiet about it otherwise they will kill you because they hate your beliefs and want power over people.

I know what Fascsim is thank you for telling me something that I already know fascsits would use the aspies because of their loyality at least that's how it happens in a book I am writing but we don't have to worry about a fascist state coming back into power the only real threat to liberty today is Islamic Fascism which is down right scary.

No, they'd see us as subhuman. Just like the drinkers, smokers, fatties, gays and anyone else who was disliked at the time.

That's easy to say, but I'm not so sure it's true.

The alternative political party (Republicans) consider my family and me as parasites, and generally inferior to those with wealth. Artsy bohemian bums like my wife and I are none too popular with them. And they certainly feel no obligation for providing special education for my little girl, as they figure she has to pull herself up by her own bootstraps. And my Dad had been a staunch union man who was able to provide my Mom and me with a comfortable middle class living - which the Republicans figured was somehow bad. So I'm actually pretty sure I have chosen well.

Well, I'm a student and the two Canadian parties which probably offer the most support for students would be the New Democratic Party (our Socialist International member) and the Greens. I'm planning to go into research and I think the Greens are the ones who want to make the biggest increases in research funding, including grants for undergrads and grad students. Like all Canadians I benefit from Universal Healthcare. once again, the two parties that are the biggest defenders of that are the NDP and the Greens. But the Greens believe in taking a serious look at the healthcare system (while keeping it public and universal) rather than simply throwing more money at it, and I suspect that that is the better way to go. In the most general sense, the Green Party has by far the best platform to look out for the long term health of our economy and planet (despite having a few technophobic trouble-spots).

That seems like an experience you should hear about when the benefits of unions are discussed, but I don't think that's a common experience, from everything I've been told and been through myself.

I think your story is a becoming a small slice of the union experience, especially if you're in the States.

But it's nice to hear that some people do actually benefit from the party's support in their individual lives.

I mean other than merely agreeing with you.

My impression as an outsider has been, in Canada at least, that unions tend to benefit the members despite the internal beurocracy and occasional bout of stupidity. It is the business owners and the government that are the ones who do not benefit because they have to pay higher wages etc.

The union company that I worked for did have people that really did benefit from the unions, but it is a different generation that benefited than the new one. The benefits have eroded away. I guess they have for sometime, more for others, as my father worked many union jobs. Note "many".

Look up Fordism.

Higher wages benefit EVERYONE in the LONG TERM. The problem is, American businessmen increasingly look no further than the next stock optioning...

American business has been eating itself for some time.

Some of the reason they've stopped working so well is because:
a) Our society is increasingly dominated by the finance and service sectors sectors, which for some reason are harder to unionise. As such unions have lost some of their relevance and their support among the genera public (because fewer people are members).
b) Many of unions' collective bargaining rights were taken away during the Reagan-Thatcher years, weakening them considerably.

I always found it ironic that the nazis where racist yet pro life and against abortion and payed women to have as many kids as they could and killed women trying to get a abortion hmm they where very conflicting and the biggest threat the world had ever faced when Hitler was in power he also put sex offenders rapists ect in the holocaust hmm very strange indeed.

Forced abortions and forced sterilisations were often carried out in Nazi Germany upon women from sections of society that were considered 'undesirable'.
