If you think President Obama is an idiot, exactly what is your criteria for being an idiot?
Apparently disagreeing with your personal political views. "Idiot" is not the word I'd use to describe either candidate. I notice that conservatives seem to have a very intense personal dislike for Obama. You didn't have that with Bill Clinton. Maybe because Slick Willie was a lot easier to make fun of. Yet they still tried to impeach him. If Obama does manage to win a second term I assume the Republicans are going to look for anything they can find to bring impeachment charges against him. You know it's personal with the repugs.
Vindictiveness has become a Republican trait since even before Clinton had won a second term. I have no doubt they'll attempt to make Obama's second term as President as miserable as possible. And if he doesn't win, we'll just have to see if the Democrats have learned anything from the Republicans in a relationship with a President Romney - or if they will choose to take the high road.

Keep in mind that the same people that would claim that are also fond of saying that anyone can run into a gun shop and buy a machinegun.
In any gun shop that I've ever done business with if someone ran in and asked for a machinegun they'd be marched right back out. If need be by force and probably the police at least notified.
It would be as much a civic responsibility to refuse someone like that than anything.
Other delusional beliefs include but are not limited to; handing guns out like candy, people running around with assault weapons, the streets running red with blood, ad nauseam....
These are people that have never purchased any firearm and have probably never set foot inside a gun shop or on the grounds of a shooting range.
It's the repeated willful ignorance of some (I'd like to say most) of them that makes me doubt their intelligence.

Hahaha yeah damn machine guns, those shoulder things that go up make it even easier to empty clips from hips with pistol grips! And we can't just let people buy assault vehicles either, let's ban tacky body kits since they give Civics 300 hp! Wait, actually that's not such a bad idea Quote:

It's sad that people who are otherwise intelligent start herping and derping when it comes to guns, but yeah some of them are so ridiculous that it makes me think that their views actually reflect their mental capacity.

Has anyone ever heard of "under the table", or "backdoor sales" or even "yard sales'? I don't know maybe it's just Arizona, but it's easy to get what you want.
Yes, you can sometimes find guns at garage sales or in the want-ads and that is legal in any state worthy of being part of America. Usually not much of a selection, though.
I have one that came from a garage sale and a two others from private sales. No paperwork or anything for them.
The bulk of gun purchases are done at gun shops or sports supply stores. Licensed sale of used guns have the same requirements as for new ones.

Well Arizona has been thumbing it's nose at the Feds, AZ might have some "exception" that will come back around and get people in trouble. One weekend at least 5 people came out to the "desert where nobody lives" near my sister's house to shoot off their Uzi's, AKs and one M-16. All full auto. Pissed me off. They all left after I "spoke" with them.
Those are the type no regs will fix.
Those are the type no regs will fix.
That is an interesting anecdote.
I find it interesting because you were perfect comfortable walking up to a bunch of very heavily armed people and asking them to stop what they were doing and they were perfectly happy to comply with your request.
In Britain we are so ruled by fear that nobody would dream of asking a couple 12 year olds to stop being antisocial for of being stabbed/beaten to death by the little darlings or of having those children launch a campaign of property destruction against you (bricks through windows, s**t through letterbox, cars smashed up and burnt etc).
