Yeah, that's what I always thought...if I'm remembering this correctly, the passage says that Ham "knew his father's nakedness"...for reference, when Adam "knew" Eve, Cain and Abel happened.

On top of that, I do remember the Bible saying that Noah's line was the only "pure" one, and that this was the reason why Noah's family was spared. If Noah's family was the only "pure" one, then his sons couldn't have married outside of the family, because other people would have been "impure". So, on top of Ham having relations with his father, Noah's sons would have needed to do the nasty with their mom and/or sisters. What kind of a "pure" family is this?!

Noah's 3 sons, each had a wife.

As to what Ham did to Noah please see:

If the flood happened before that time, then, of course, Noah had to bring a pair of each species of mammoth with him, and then drop them off in the correct environments (North American mammoths in North America, Siberian mammoths in Siberia, etc.). That was really a big job.

All of the mastodons would have drowned, together with the dinosaurs.

Heard about that- The Egyptian pyramids were a 1000 years old when the last pigmy mammoths (talk about oxymorons!) roamed that island off Siberia.

.

The first pyramid was constructed in 2630 bc. That was only a few hundred years after the flood. Noah's descendents really got busy, after they got done putting all of the animals in their proper places. Too bad about the mammoths, though.

There were high rise buildings (made of straw rebar baked mud bricks) in Sumer prior to 3000 b.c.e. The first large cities we know of were in Sumer at that time. When Abraham left Ur Kasdim (Ur of the Chaldeans) he left equipped with a written language and a system of arithmetic for keeping the books. The civilization of Sumer was the oldest outside of Asia. Less is known about ancient Asian civilizations here in the West.

I would speculate that the Minoans were on a par with the people of Sumer about the same time period. Perhaps Minoa was Atlantis?

There are other cultures that talk of a great flood, it is also entirely possible that God had others build arks of varying designs.

Just thought that possibility needs to be considered.

There never was a -world-wide- flood. However about 600,000,000 years ago ice may have covered the entire surface of the earth. Look up snow-ball earth.

There have been large area flooding. For example when the ice-dam between the Med and what is now the Black Sea gave way a very large flood occurred in the area. But it was not a world-wide flood. The ice dam was a left over from the prior ice age.. I imagine when the glaciers started to melt some rather large flood were produced.

You do realize penguins can swim, some even migrate away from antartica when it is winter in the southern hemisphere.

Polar bears are entirely capable of swimming as well.

Look we're looking at animals being called by God to head to a particular ark... Maybe you can go ask the polar bears? Noah's flood leaves a lot of questions because he pretty much saved just a ton of animals that can't talk to humans...

It stands to reason that aquatic mammals like Dolphins were not on the ark, nor were any species of fish, because a flood isn't going to affect them nearly as much as species that lived on land.

Polar bears can't talk.

You took my pithy remark much too seriously, lad.

Well if you actually read the Bible, the Ark was open to people prior to when the rain started, if people had chosen to heed the warning Noah gave they would have been allowed on the ark. The chose not to believe him and heed the warning and that is what ended up killing them.

Poor mammoths!

But- your not kidding about the descendants getting busy.
They may have let the mammonths drown, but they painstakingly carted animals from the Ark on Mr. Ararat off to the far corners of the world AND they made sure that said animals ONLY were taken to certain places and not others.

For example the descendants of Noah whe became the American Indians painstakingly took the rattlesnakes and black widow spiders with them to america ( and ONLY to america), but they did NOT bring horses and cattle with them.

Likewise the descendants of Noah who became the Aboriginies of Australia made sure to stock that continent with a good supply of death adder snakes- but they neglected to bring Australia any cattle, or sheep.

So Noah's immediate family were hard workers- but not very business like! Indeed its very hard to see the logic behind the way they distributed the animals after the flood.

Was this the Fox News version of the story?

Noah had to bring freshwater dolphins to the correct rivers. So, of course they had to be on the ark. Noah had specialized aquariums to take care of them.

Freshwater fish also had to be brought to the correct rivers and lakes. They wouldn't be able to swim across oceans by themselves.

God Himself picked them up in an aquarium and brought them to another fresh water place. Right? Sure.

The Noah's ark fairytale in bunk no matter what way you look at it.

Even forgetting for a moment that the ship required would have been the greatest marine engineering accomplishment in history (and we're to believe it was built by a single man) the thought of putting animals like lions, tigers, buffalo and wilderbeast and expecting them not to eat each other is too fanciful to believe.

indeed, and what about the factor of homosexuality? It exists in nature, apparently too. It's not just a human thing, so what if noah accidentally found a homosexual animal that didn't want to mate? Then what? What'd he do, force them to have sex before taking them onto the ark?

Not only all that, but how the hell did he get the lions and other ferocious/big animals to listen to him and NOT get mauled in the process?

Man, the first time I ever listened to Eddie Izzard, he made me laugh til I cried.

also, this thread is hilarious.
