I am glad too hear not all Christians believe this stuff. Where I live it seems the vast majority of Christians believe such nonsense.

Lutherans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and other mainline Protestants tend to be skeptical of such idiocy.

My wife tells me how before she and I had met, she had gone church shopping, bouncing from one church to another. And so it happens she came to a Pentecostal church. One church service of babbling in tongues was enough for her.

^^^My brother in law is Pentecostal,he says he hears people speaking in tongues in his head all the time.That would get annoying.He also told me yoga and meditation were evil,thinks it's a good time for a demon to jump into you.
But he does walk the walk, and does a lot of nice things for the underprivileged kids in his neighborhood.I just ignore the views, but honor the fact he sincerely wants to help people.
He'll load up a whole car load and take them to eat,his wife was the same way.I'm sorry she passed.They both really tried to help out the poor in their neighborhood.I'll give them an A+ for that.

I'm sure the Jihadis won't find your posts here; that said, I personally don't have a problem with you expressing your religious position here (wanted to provide a different view to contrast whirlingmind's), as you are consistently honest and informed and aren't as eager to cause offence as some of the other members (or maybe they don't want to do that but transmit that same message regardless). I value what you say a lot.

WRT salvation and being treated of illnesses: which branch of Christianity is characterised by a view that a belief in getting rid of one's illnesses is enough to get rid of them? Also the idea that the more you talk about being fit, the fitter you become. Was it also Baptist, or Pentecostal?

Jihadists are fanatics though. Most religions probably have fanatics because being religious doesn't preclude mental illness.

In the UK, we have had documentaries showing how innocent Muslim families are attacked by the Jewish military and how Muslim women and children live in fear of gangs of Israelis throwing projectiles at them to the point that they have netting over their outside areas to not get hit. Now I know this is a very sensitive subject, and I wouldn't pretend for one moment to know lots about it (nor do I want to get drawn into a debate about who is wrong and who is right, or land or who has attacked who more), what I'm commenting on is the humanity (or lack of) by individuals of either religion. You can't punish the innocent because of the extremists. You can't tar a whole religion because of the fanatics either. There are Muslims who condemn the fanatics, Jihadists and Al Qaeda's actions and are shamed by them. Are there Jews who condemn and are shamed where the Israeli government has done wrong?
