Taking 'stop' and making it "stop-dt" adds a little extra consonant sound. But not an extra vowel sound. So its still just one syllable. So I did mess up-kinda.

So you're right- it is only 16 syllables.

I stand corrected!

But its still very Haiku like.

The fact that its only 16 syllables only further shows how ( pay attention certain folks) brevity is the soul of wit.

;-) If you think about it, the extra numbers from the way you did the vowel layout add a certain unique 'freestyle beat poetry' charm.
Some people would probably prefer it like that.

Lovely Haiku.

In fact it has exactly 17 syllables.

i can only count 16 syllables.

Not that Im trying to start a fight, but I keep recounting, and I keep getting 17.

The first digit is the number of syllables of that word. The second is the cumulative total of syllables after you add in that word.

:-) Ah, I see what's happening.
The number of syllables depends on how people pronounce things, and there are a great many accents and dialects in the world so there's a lot of variation there.
I think "stopped" perhaps can have either one or two syllables ?
I would say the word all in one syllable, but I think perhaps you might pronounce it something like "suh-topped" ( ? ) , in which case it would have two syllables.

Really, english language Haiku / Senryu are always going to be a bit approximate regarding syllables.... both for that reason, and also because technically Haiku/Senryu should contain 17 'morai', or "on" ... which are similar to syllables, and refer to the units of Japanese writing/pronunciation.
For example, the word "neko" in Japanese means "cat" , and it's written with two characters... "ne" and "ko" .... so technically, the word has two "on" .... however in english "cat" is only spoken with one syllable.

:-) So to sum things up, I think there can be some leeway regarding the exact number of syllables in an english language Haiku or Senryu poem.
If a person aims to have 17 syllables in their own pronunciation, then I think it should be fine if their poem seems to have one or two fewer (or more) syllables to other people.

I am sensing some non-verbal learning disability here..but that does not seem to affect either you or I..hmm..i wonder why...
Well you see the autism spectrum is so diverse..that some of us get the numbers and some of us don't..

If you seriously think that everybody who doesn't have the same accent as you has a "non-verbal learning disability" because you "sense that" , and if you're going to insist that they have a different accent due to "not getting the numbers" because of having issues with that relating to being autistic, then you need to have a good long think about how much of a presumptuous dick you are.
;-)

Well..according to research most people with an Asperger's syndrome diagnosis fit the criteria for Non-Verbal Learning Disorder.so the odds are pretty good that among 4 individuals discussing an issue on a site for individuals with Asperger's syndrome that at least 2 would fit the criteria...

It's just a statistical inference...that is all.. dear...

And no my name is Fred not Dick ...dear...

And no I don't think you are a jerk...that was just wit..if you did not understand the metaphor..

The full one ..TH@IS.....

As having difficulty understanding metaphors is definitely a problem overall..with all autism spectrum disorders...

Over the course of over 5 decades..I have mastered metaphors..so yes...that does give me a distinct advantage over..
most people here in understanding metaphors..and obviously the reason some people have problems understanding my
metaphors in the free verse 'beat' poetry I write as my style of autistic communication now...

But..I am a member of an international poetry group..and most of those people have no problems understanding it at all..

So again..different minds..different thoughts..different ways of expressing oneself and different challenges and gifts...

Welcome to the human race...

But anyway..I back up what I say with..cold hard facts...dear...

So here are the facts about the relationships of Nonverbal learning Disorder and Asperger's syndrome...

You came here to complain about my style of communication..so right back at you babe....I am Autistic..I communicate differently than most people..

So yeah...with any decency of empathy..one would think that a site for people on the spectrum would be a little more supportive for different ways of communicating..but yeah..empathy..empathy is also a serious difficulty for many people on the spectrum....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonverbal_ ... g_disorder

Quote:
Ongoing debate surrounds the relationship between Asperger syndrome and NLD, as research on the condition is ongoing and procedures can differ from AS research.[2] Although most people with Asperger syndrome (AS) fit the criteria for NLD, a diagnosis of AS is often preferred.[2] In this instance, some researchers assert that an AS diagnosis is more clinically useful than an NLD diagnosis, and argue that NLD would be an example of excessive diagnostic splitting.
NLD can also occur with other disorders. As with Asperger syndrome, NLD exists on a spectrum, and those affected can experience it in a range of ways. Those with an NLD diagnosis can experience some or all of the symptoms, and to varying degrees.
Some proponents of the category believe that this discrepancy is attributable to dysfunction in the right cerebral hemisphere.[1][4]

I am an authority over coincidence. I make coincidence confusing. I am a miracle for thinking what I think, and God is nowhere to be seen yet can be seen, but only if you pay close attention and at the right circumstances.

Anyone who understands this metaphor above and clearly tells me what this means exactly wins a puppy.

Yes..it is nice to see people free enough..to move outside of the 'box'....

I am a maverick... not a member of the herd..and oh my god how I love.. it..
It is all bliss everyday..to live without the chains of the illusions of cultural walls...

An authority over coincidence..can be one who experiences and analyzes life..overall..well enough..to understand that there IS NOTHING random in life..

Some people refer to this phenomenon as synchronicity...or the 'acasual' connecting principle..as developed by Carl Jung...

And any human being that understand the TRUE beauty of life and the interconnectedness of all things in life..understands that life ItSELF is a miracle..

And anyone who becomes completely separated from GOD understands they know nothing..e.g...Socrates....

And GOD is simply something...
And everything else that connects all things together...
Th@sITreALLy....

And if th@ satisfies yOUr challenge you can still keep the puppy...
My ferocious cat would likely tear It to shreds..anyway...
He is almost like Supercat..
hehe...

Well now, darling.... I wasn't complaining... yet it astounds me that you failed to grasp the witty metaphor inherent in what I was saying.
You know sweetie, my name is neither Jemima
nor Fiona.
Well aint that a thing.
If you understood a modicum
of the world @round you
You could see that I haven't been diagnosed with @s8erg3rs syndrome
Not that I would mind if I were
Are you a doctor ?
or perhaps a quack ?
quack quack quack
swimming in the miasma of life
shaking your tail-feather
like in the videos.
So now, dick
is it ok to call you dick ?
it seems so fitting
for every finger you point
at us
many more point back at you
and all that
oh ho ho my own wit
makes my sides split
such a witty metaphor
I see you're in the race
the human race
Although maybe in your case
it's a hurdle race run by an elephant
with
concrete
boots
I am a metaphor ninja
And similes make me smile too
I throw them out like shuriken
The master of words
Being coherent is an advantage in life though
You know, sweetiepie ?
Otherwise it's like you write
and others just see
murble zurble zowf
I
have
marbles
in
my
mouth

(curtseys for the audience, blows kisses, and accepts a bouquet)

Mine buys me financial independence..

And i can prove that2....

And by the way i enjoyed your writing..

As clearly stated before in this thread...all I am here for...

Is to inspire a little out of the box thinking..

So thank you...

Listen now dear..please.. and HEARhere me clear...

My problem is as far from difficulty in coherence..as anything in this universe...

My problem is being a perfectionist in communication..down to every dotted i or crossed T...

My freedom in life is finally moving away fROM perfection..th@ISall..

And the challenge here for out of the box thinking is likely more for me than you...

Th@isALL..

A real life practice though in being human...

As before I did this..I was simply dead in effect...

AND AFFECT!

Life is much more fun..

HAHA...IS ALL...

I had vision..and then a dream....

GOD IS LAUGH..!

TH@ISALL....aH!

AND NOW I AM TRULY LIVING..
GOD LIFE IS FUN!

And yes I can spin around and walk in reverse..like a Ballerina
all through SuperWalmart..Kohls..my backyard..and around my neighborhood block..for 11 miles
in one day..like i did a couple of weeks ago documented on my Nike GPS watch...

All while my materialistically..fashion conscious...oriented wife does all her shopping...

All I give a f**** about is living...

The money just came along with the FULL package..
without me asking....
