Right now, I'm on only three medications, for high blood sugar (which is pretty much under control these days, anyway), for blood pressure (which is admittedly still a problem I found, when I was without it for a time), and for anxiety/depression (which I also found I'm not yet ready to be without). But I am watching my diet (though I really went off the deep end over the holidays), and have lost quite a bit of weight. I normally get my exercise by walking, so I'll have to wait till it warms up again, though I think I'll be able to get exercise equipment that used to belong to my late father-in-law.
Do you have any other suggestions?

the only thing I can say is what worked for me. I imagine it is below freezing where you are at now. at least here it is in the 40s and walkable outside without danger of soaking or freezing or slipping and falling. so far. the winter is still young. anyways, I found that if you walk for at least a half-hour every day just like you were very late for a meeting or something like that, in conjunction with making your main meal of the day a large salad, will do wonders. when you lose enough weight you can add interval training to your daily routine, that is where you push your body to 90% of its exertional capacity for 30 seconds to a minute, then slow down for a few minutes, repeated several times per session, which improves both anaerobic and aerobic conditioning and results in accelerated weight loss. my blood pressure took care of itself when I got rid of the chronic inflammation via the diet which reduces by 90+% wheat products and refined carbs, thus restoring my body's ph acid balance to 7.3 where it is supposed to be. sugars in the diet trip the acid balance too far towards the acidic side which causes inflammation which causes hypertension and hypercholestemia and lots of other things. avoiding partially hydrogenated oils is another high-importance thing.

you are being prudent, because you have dependents who depend on you being in the picture, and if you went out there on the ice and slid under a bus or something like that you would leave them bereft, so you are doing the right thing. now if I was out there and slid under that same bus nobody would miss me in the way that you would be missed. I hope that made sense.
