Yea, I don't think so. Some off-color joke by a teacher isn't news to me, the teacher apologized so what more is there? If this is evidence of RACISM IN AMERICA then racism truly is dead.
For this teacher to have been so racially insensitive to the psyche of this student either proves the said teacher is extremely daft, or is in fact racist. And the fact is, white guys like you and I can never truly grasp the hurtful power of racially charged words carry for people of color. To deny this is either extremely daft or racist.
Trust me, it is white people that get more offended by this than anyone. I went to mostly poor black inner city schools, I
know where the line is and if I didn't I would a lot harder time making it thru. Normal people are a lot more thicker skinned and can actually laugh at themselves unlike PC obsessed liberals who either choose not to understand or have a pathological inability to understand the concept of context. The PC police are trying to enforce their totalitarian language control on people, they don't want people to be to have thicker skin or be able to laugh at themselves or have any real discussion of race in this country. What end is there to it? There are a lot of people in this country that maintain their power and influence by racially obsessed culture, moving on is not an option for them.
I've almost literally heard teachers make the same joke word for word, I don't even remember if it was to a black or white or whatever student because the context was clearly not racial. Maybe this one was or maybe it wasn't, I don't know but the guy apologized so it should be squashed. It's not a bigger story than that and to try to tie it some bigger cultural issue is just laughable.

number of killings going on in the hood? They don't sound
so "thick skinned" to me. Maybe you're thinking of
some "ideal" ghetto folks? I knew some once.
Unacceptable action by a teacher should result in immediate
dismissal. This may help to show other instructors actions
which can harm children.will be dealt with immediately and firmly.
