@ L_Holmes: Being right (winning) seems to be what's most important to you. It's, IMO, a common pitfall for us ASDers (I've been guilty of it, myself, when I was your age----wanting to be right, not "winning"); but, here's the thing..... No.1, "right" is subjective, in this case; and no.2, "being right" doesn't make one good, or kind, or smart (it just makes one learned). My theory is, we ASDers have been told we're "wrong" all-of-our-lives, so we "need" to be right----but, "being right" won't / doesn't validate us (which is what you're seeming to need). It's very easy, IMO, to fall under "the spell" of "being right", and thereby clouding our logic / judgment / whatever.

Just "food for thought".....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for the topic of this thread: Given the hypothetical poll, I'd vote for Trump. I feel Hillary is a big fat liar, and I'd give almost anything to see her or her husband in handcuffs, for SOMETHING. I feel Trump is a big fat narcissist----which ALSO makes him a liar; BUT, as someone else said, he DOES have some "policies" that I agree with.
Now, if the hypothetical poll had said "Trump or Biden", I would vote for Biden every day, and twice on Sunday!
Let's hope it doesn't come down to those two kooks.
But for the sake of argument and me being a hate-filled conservative I'd have to vote for Trump.
Trump is Hillary's trump card. The circus act that is the republican primaries only showcase the implosion of the republican party. The republican party won't treat Trump fairly, (there are enough factions within the party that at least some won't, giving Trump a number of incidents he can call out as why he was mistreated,) so he'll run as a third party candidate, splitting the conservative vote, paving the way for the democratic parties candidate to win. It would be a classic twist of fate for Bush to win the republican nomination. Then we could have a complete repeat of the '92 elections, the republican vote is split by a strong businessman running a 3rd party campaign, cementing a Clinton victory over Bush.
However, it's possible that it won't be Hillary to get the windfall from a 3rd party Trump. She is no longer inevitable, these days, Sanders is shaping up to possibly be more than an also ran and Biden still hasn't announced if he's in for one more rodeo.
As for the republican side of things, it's pretty much a crap shoot right now. Trump could get the nomination. People keep talking about his polling numbers being a fluke, but he's been riding them high for a while now. I remember '12s primaries where the contenders were Romney and NotRomney. Every week NotRomney was someone else until eventually Romney won the primary, so Trump has a real shot. Of course, if Trump doesn't win the nomination, he might show some of that world class 'class' and bow out gracefully, supporting whoever does get the nomination, perhaps with the promise of a cabinet position or ambassadorship somewhere fun. Who knows.
So we'll see.
Trump may be a spoiled brat, but he's not stupid. He undoubtedly recalls the Perot fiasco, and he knows that only the left will benefit from a conservative third party candidacy. The only likely party splitting scenario I see is on the left, where people from the Sanders wing would follow him in a non-Democratic run.
He clearly isn't stupid. He is very intelligent and quite cunning. However, what are his motivations? Who really knows but Trump himself? My gut reaction when he announced was he was supporting the dems in the most impactful way he could.
Also, beyond that, he's shown himself to be vindictive and a bully. If the republican nominee is someone that Trump personally despises more than the democratic one, Trump will split the vote. The president doesn't affect Trump that much, he can (and does) buy the members of congress he needs to continue his operations, so it really could come down to a matter of personal preference, or even a sense of, if "I can't be the president, than neither can you."
I don't think Trump will be the next president, but for better or for worse, he clearly has a much larger vote than I.
The thing about Hillary that I find the most distasteful, whether she is President or not, is how she treats the little people around her.
There are numerous reports about problems between her and the Secret Service from when Bill Clinton was President. One Secret Service Agent made the mistake of saying good morning to her once and she really tore into him. He didn't deserve that.
And when Bill was president, there were reports that the White House staff had to hide when she came along. She didn't want to see them and she didn't want to listen to them. She just wanted them out of her way. And just like the Secret Service agents, if one of them made the mistake of speaking to her, they would get a full view of her wrath.
Because of that, she's my last choice. It has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with knowing that she would consider every one of us to be beneath her and not eligible to even speak to her.
From http://www.inquisitr.com/2299084/hillary-clinton-secret-service-assignment-considered-punishment-by-agents-energizer-author-claims/:
Quote:
Kessler painted the following picture for Hannity about the treatment of Hillary’s Clinton’s security detail.
Quote:
“Hillary is not only mean, she’s nasty, she’s abusive. Being assigned to her detail is considered a form of punishment by Secret Service agents. It’s the worst assignment in the Secret Service, which tells you a lot about the character of this individual. If you knew someone like that, you would have nothing to do with them. You would never hire that person, you would never be a friend of that person, and yet Hillary is running for president. This is something that the Secret Service has to put up with, but it tells you a lot about character. If we ignore character, we’re going to suffer the consequences…”
No wonder the Secret Service considers guarding Hillary to be one of their worst duties.
I'd vote against her if it was Her v Rand Paul. He's the only good Republican candidate I see.
I only vote for people, not against them.
Nothing short of deadly force would get me to vote for Hillary.
I'm not joking.
There is zero possibility that any of utah's electoral votes will go to anyone but whoever is the republican candidate, so i either cast a symbolic vote for Bernie or a symbolic vote for Vermin Supreme.
Truthful politicians are rare. Good ones, even more rare.
There is currently no politician running (US or otherwise (Canada)) that I agree with. There platforms are often half decent and considering the amount of the promises politicians tend to keep, it's not worth taking the time to vote even if I was eligible.
If I had the power to vote. I wouldn't vote. However if I was being physically forced to vote, I'd pick Donald Trump. Just because.
Trump at least has upside, maybe he means some of the stuff he says who knows. Hillary we know is a snake and would be a terrible Nixonian like president, whatever freedoms we have will disappear under her administration. Maybe I'll just vote for Gary Johnson again, I'll vote tho since marijuana legalization is on the ballot. Going to really need it after this election. I think Trump is much smarter and more competent than Hillary, he would be a better foreign policy president, he's the only one really talking about immigration or trade because everybody else is corporate shill, his other domestic policy seems fairly open minded. I prefer a populist over some corporate owned New World Order type any day.
Trump, because his sister is a Federal Appeals Court Judge. With several Supreme Court Judges likely to retire, this is more important than who is President.
I am sure she is one of the great legal minds who thinks the children of illegal tourists do not become citizens, and who on the Appellate Bench would agree.
Politics is a rotten way to pick a Judge. Some input from the Courts would help.
Besides that, Trump will make Anime real.
Trump was right saying no one would have watched the Republican debate if he was not there, or brought up immigration. Now that he is bringing his Brand to the second debate, he is asking that the ad income goes to vets.
Trump is such a draw that his State of the Union speech could charge Super bowl ad rates.
The world would be watching President Trump, and he knows how to collect from ratings.
Tee Shirts, coffee mugs, action figures, can fill the Presidents money pit.
He is honest, he admits to buying Congress, imagine the laws he could pass as President, with a money pit.
President Trump has one thing we really need, he is fun.
