it is nice that you pay, I also paid for many years but i'm sure what I did would not pass muster with you. but that doesn't matter, it only matters to me that it passed muster with me and I put in my time in the saltmines. I can't believe that someone on an autism site is spewing this condescending propaganda. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

If you want to get mad at the economic parasites who are sucking up all your hard-earned cash then you should focus on the subsidized billionaires, the American military and the Israeli military. That's where your tax dollars actually go. We've all been bamboozled and nobody seems to want to do anything about it.

that is what the PTB have done for people like the poster in question, convinced them it is in their best interest to kick their fellow citizens who are down. dog eat dog. distracts them from how the PTB are in turn screwing them. pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. I guess another definition of "middle class" would be the enforcers for the upper class who are charged with sticking it to the lower class any way they can.

Your perception that most Americans are poor people is wrong. Generally, Americans are the 1% of the world.

The vast majority of Americans are enjoying success.

Just look around:
-new condo / home developments going up
-record new car sales in 2015
-eat-out restaurants packed
-stock markets near record highs
-home prices surging
-mortgage rates near all-time-lows
-median US household income, adjusted for inflation near all-time high (at $56,000)

According to the Urban Institute ... the poor, lower middle and middle class are declining, and the upper middle class is growing substantially.

So, Americans are becoming wealthier.

the urban institute's historic mission is to study the cities and city folks, and its studies are not germaine to the poor in rural areas as that is not part of its mission. I don't trust whatever stats it puts forth for city dwellers as it doesn't reflect my reality out here in the sticks.

let's just say the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. official policies favor big business over mom and pop, hence the shrinking middle class.

Mom and Pop stores have really gone down the tubes, unfortunately.

People find Walmart and that ilk convenient.

Do I think America's the "world's biggest craphole?" Hell no!

I think its politics is making it seem like it is---we have two "winners" running right now!

But most people, once you get to know them, are decent people--because of convenience and because of character.

Maybe not the biggest craphole, but it certainly isn't 'the best country in the world' there are lots of flaws and things wrong here.

hmm as far as I can tell mostly everyone in my age group has to live with multiple room-mates to afford rent and either is on EBT or close to making little enough to qualify. That says to me that most people aren't exactly enjoying 'success' and financial wealth in this country. There are some college kids from rich families under the illusion they are also wealthy, but should their parents stop looking out for them financially they'd be in the same boat as the rest of us.
