Trump is a massive sociopathic narcissist
Right because identity politics by poor white males is totally never a thing and has no relevance to Trump at all. (and did you actually read what I wrote about Clinton?? Have I ever said I'm a Clinton supporter?)
I think Bobby Dylan nailed it on this one like sixty years ago:
From the poverty shacks he looks from the cracks to the tracks
And the hoofbeats pound in his brain
And he's taught how to walk in a pack
Shoot in the back with his fist in a clinch
To hang and to lynch
To hide 'neath the hood
To kill with no pain
Like a dog on a chain
He ain't got no name
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game
i come from loser family a lot like this and got out and I'm sorry I have no sympathy for reactionary people who can't compete in the modern world and want to hold everyone else down so they can feel great again.

If it's a thing then it has been made a thing by the extremism of the other side, the pendulum is now swinging back. If you believe in identity politics then it is only natural that the biggest grouping would band together to advocate for their interests. I don't believe that Trump only appeals to white identity politics however but rather a broad based populist one. Trump has heavily courted minority support as the Democratic party establishment supports policies that go against their interests. Trump doesn't threaten entitlements, he opposes illegal immigration which hurts the poorest Americans regardless of race, and he supports trade policies aimed at bringing jobs back to these communities.
Is it possible your family issues bias you?

How have the Democrats worked against minorities? By helping them get higher education? By ensuring civil rights?
And identity politics is only a good thing when an oppressed minority bands together around a common trait (race, religion, sexuality, etc) in order to make things better for their group. For the already empowered majority to do the same obviously is almost certainly motivated by reaction against progress made for and by minorities. The KKK hardly has the same moral standing as the NAACP. even though both are identity movements.

But at least she has experience in government and world affairs, and has more than enough self control than to fly off the handle over a tweet at three in the morning. That, and she's everything she says she is or has been, whether that be an accomplished lawyer, First Lady, senator, and secretary of state, whereas Trump is actually not an ingenious and successful businessman and billionaire, though he does play one on TV.

One of my favorite observations about the social justice movement and some people's reactions to it came from a guy who linked to multiple articles essentially saying "be afraid wh***y, we're coming for you", and asked why the people who wrote those articles, linked those articles, promoted those articles, etc, were so surprised that white people believed them.

I think he is a narcissist, maybe a sociopath but not necessarily a sadistic sociopath.
I see Clinton as demonstrating some signs of narcissism. After all if I were in her position and I knew all the scandals that were being put on me I think I would simply drop out, live a nice peaceful life by myself. It takes someone with supreme confidence to run for president, especially when they know that half the country already hates them To me this does show some intractable narcissism on her part.
I probably won't be voting for either Clinton or Trump. Just don't let Trump fool you. He cares about no one but himself.
Narcissism is a spectrum. Classic NPD narcissism or unstable narcissism is about maintaining an ego you can't really support, which makes it fragile and vulnerable. It's low self-esteem trying desperately to pretend to be high self-esteem and dependency on the validation of others to prove it. ---That's what I mean when I say Trump is a narcissist.
There's also stable narcissism -- which is about when someone genuinely thinks they are better than everyone else and feels entitled to more important treatment. (I think there also has to be an element of really craving admiration) In this sense of narcissism I think you're probs right that Clinton is a narcissist and politicians in general are pretty narcissistic.
Sadism and sociopathy/psychopathy are different things -- it's just that if a socio/psycho does happen to be sadistic there's not much conscience/empathy to restrain them and for psychos not much fear/anxiety either... so their more likely to *act* sadistic if they have more sadism than normal people.
I don't think Trump's sadistic I think he lashes out from narcissistic wounds and acts like a douchebag to push power in people's faces. I also think he'll hurt people to get anything he wants with no remorse (and with that ego there's no end to what he wants). But I see no evidence he likes to hurt people because fun

Trump's ghostwriter/biographer: "If he were writing The Art of the Deal today, Schwartz said, it would be a very different book with a very different title. Asked what he would call it, he answered, 'The Sociopath'."
http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/ ... -tells-all
"George Simon, a clinical psychologist who conducts seminars on manipulative behavior, says Trump is 'so classic that I’m archiving video clips of him to use in workshops because there’s no better example' of narcissism. 'Otherwise I would have had to hire actors and write vignettes. He’s like a dream come true.'"

The Donald himself: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

You guys vote how you like but Trump is a pathological liar who is putting on an act for your emotions and you'd be smart not to fall for it. His facial expressions show no normal human empathy cues and the reason is most def not autism. I kinda admire him because he's great at manipulating people and he actually has had so much wealth all his life that he doesn't really need to mask his lack of conscience/empathy. But if you're gonna stare someone saying he's an intraspecies predator right in your face and make this guy your leader well don't be surprised when he fricking eats you. Oh and the guy has massive ego/self-esteem deficits and will freak out in oversensitivity to the slightest criticism. He's not just evil he's massively insecure impulsive evil.
Bonus points: he literally doesn't see any reason not to throw nuclear weapons around. Read that again-- he doesn't get any moral emotion alarms going off at mass murder PLUS he's not cognitively correcting for why on the consequences that would be bad. He's not just pro-torture but doesn't make a cognitive pause or use distancing language when talking about it cause it doesn't bother him. He puts down crippled veterans who spent years in POW camps because well people who get tortured for their country don't win wars. All of this makes perfect intuitive sense to me if I also didn't have the brains or common sense of a brick suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome.
I am frankly gobsmacked that Trump supporters don't see this I mean he's not even freaking hiding it.
Trump is a Train Wreck. Which is why I am going to vote for him. I have come to dislike the government of the United States and electing Trump would inflict a disaster on our government. And it is perfectly legal! Voting for Trump, that is.
Instead of being given the the choice of the lesser of two evils, we have been given the Evil of Two Lessers. Electing Trump would be revenge.

*sigh* I miss the good old days when Pepe was a delightful fellow who peed with his pants down.![]()
Anyways, Trump has many deplorable Nazi supporters who ignore his Zionists tendencies.
In the same way, Clinton has many supporters who ignore her neocon tenancies. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
"Of course there are differences, but they are not fundamental. Nobody should have any illusions. The United States has essentially a one-party system and the ruling party is the business party."

This all reminds me of a poem I remember hearing once. I wish I could remember who wrote it.
Everybody knows our days are numbered. Everybody knows with their fingers crossed.
Everybody knows the war is over. Everybody knows the good guys lost.
Everybody knows the fight was fixed. The poor stay poor. The rich get rich.
That's how it goes.
Everybody knows.

The song is Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen. Here's my fave cover by Whispering Tree. Whispering Tree also did a song called Go Call the Captain which is really relevant here

Ive been thinking over the Trump issue and came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter. I mean its like this: people condemn narcissism/sociopathy/low empathy/selfishness in social equals on the same level. But they still reward these characteristics every time when looking for strong people to support them against their enemies. I don't think Trump voters really have any illusions about Trump besides thin rationalisations which are more about deflecting criticism than stuff they actually believe themselves.
The real illusions are about themselves. Their voting for Trump because they want to see immigrants and black people and women put in their place. Its not that any of these policies would actually help them materially--- it's about pride. The truth is that a lot of poor white males don't have any abilities or talents to make them special or valuable but they still expect to have it --- and the only value/status/feeling powerful in life they ever got for being white guys. They just can't face the reality that's who they are.
Let immigrants compete and stop putting down black people and low ability white guys with ego expectations which won't happen are the absolute lowest and have to face it. Let women have a really choice who they want as partners and none of them will settle being chained down to losers all their life. So Trump comes along as a bully putting all these people down and they cheer. Because they really are a lot like Trump inside. It's just Trump kicks people around to stay king of the Trump Tower and they kick people around to be king of the trailer park which they want to pretend is Trump Tower.
They like Trump because they think he's their sociopathic narcissist. And theyll never admit hell just screw them over cause (1) they have no hope for themselves they just want other people put below them and (2) they can't admit that once again theyre just a tool. That's why I think we exaggerate the harm done by powerful people because the ones like Trump that really make life suck for all of us only get power by giving bitter people what they want.
