Are you guys voting for Obama just because he's black?
I know some black Democrats have admitted that.

Are you voting against Obama just because he's black?
I know some white Republicans who have admitted that.

Hmm, I still feel standing up for his pastor originally was the right thing to do. He specifically said that he didn't agree with everything Wright said - in the speech he compared his feelings to him to his white grandmother when she admitted that she felt nervous around black men. This is a good analogy IMO; his grandmother was admitting to being a bit racist, but she had a point since black men are more likely to be criminals (not due to anything inheirent, but due to disruptive elements of black culture and the poor socio-economic situation of a fair number of blacks). Wright is also a bit racist, but he also has some valid points.

But, I agree that politics are important, which is why I feel that him distancing himself from Wright, after the pastor made himself look like a racist nut, was justified. IMO is shows that he can be pragmatic, and change his actions when needed. I like this in contrast to Bush's infexibility.

I'm not saying that Obama is the best candidate, though I actually feel he is. I'm just saying that I feel that his relationship with Wright is a stupid thing to attack him on. He did try to stand up for what he felt was right, but changed his stance when circumstances changed - isn`t this what people want with a politician?

Well, this whole voting for someone based on demographics is pretty stupid imho. Sure, there are some racists who will vote against Obama just because he his black, but it is equally stupid to vote for him because he is black. I've noticed people seem eager to have the first black or women President and will ignore candidate issues in order to reach that milestone. If you are going to set some record, it is best to set it cleanly so to speak.
