I believe you if you say he is an Atheist. AG seems to be a Theist at times as well. They both seem to be more open minded and not so hot headed about the issue so it's vague.

I'm not trying to be cliquish, it's just that it's hard not to notice some people. I hope more characters join PPR. The more brains the better.

Dussel is someone who recently came here I think. He is in Sand's category.
DentBentArthur is also new and I'm not sure what to make of him yet.

AG is definitely an atheist, but he seems to like to attack any reasoning he sees as sloppy, and this includes atheists who are overly dismissive of theology.

Yeah, it's not like we can just not notice the most prolific posters here. I think everyone has had at least one multi-page debate with AG

DentArthurDent is new here, but he's already become a well-established regular. So I can point to him as an example of the fact that we aren't a closed clique. Is Dussel new? I recognize him, but I don't remember his arrival.

Fairly new, yeah. And Dent's new? It seems like he's been here quite a while.

I seem to have established myself fairly solidly as an atheist but I find the classification somewhat confining. More generally I would present myself as being tied to responding to a universe based on scientific validation which is a broader outlook. There are many odd and unvalidatable beliefs that I would investigate and reject outside of religious ones.

Give me a break.

Fuzzy is a kind jerk? I haven't seen the jerk side. Actually, I have never debated with him.
Maybe the argumentative people stand out more?

Hmm.... actually throughout the time I've been at WP, I have had varying views towards religion, and frankly, my apparent religious views can seem to completely flip flop depending on who I am talking to.

Yeah...I agree plus you automatically get a tag or label before evidence is presented. I guess I'd consider myself agnostic..meaning not so militant against people and their own belief systems even though I don't believe in them.

Greenblue, care to settle the controversy?

well, I believe I would fit more into agnosticism, I do consider the possibility, but I am in a constant state of doubt, I tend to shift from strong to weak agnosticism to agnostic theism from time to time, suffering a crisis of faith if you will, as I used to be a Christian before.

I would suggest that the only way to categorise PPR PPL would be Argumentative and Self Opinionated, there are a few that can be pinned down further, but in general what they are argumentative and opinionated about tends to swing all over the political, social and spiritual spectrum.
The major difference between PPR regulars and the rest of the Forum seems to be our preparedness to have our opinions shot down in flames. This of course causes trouble when we venture beyond this environment

And causes no end of shock and wounds to those that venture in to PPR. We need a "there be Dragons" warning on the forum.

The very existence of this topic, in this forum, is categorizing people into PPR regulars and others. Ragtime used to post here all the time, and still does occasionally, however he is no longer considered to be a regular because he stopped evangelizing, perhaps having learned that he was only giving people an opportunity to mock his God.

Is there a reason to categorize people other than to assign attributes to them that you have no evidence of in themselves with logic running along the lines of:
1) Christians believe such and such
2) You are a Christian
3) You believe such and such?

Categorizing leads to sterotyping which leads to prejudice. Before asking the question "can we?", perhaps we should ask "do we want to?".

Na I am just really opinionated so that it seems like you have been putting up with me for years, I discovered this site when I got my DX just last August.

Magnus you havent worked me out yet, let me help. I believe in the truthful teaching of history as a tool to help present and future decisions, I believe in science over superstition, I believe the resources of the planet should be used for the good of all humanity, I believe in finding causes for actions and trying to help people have a better life. I do not believe in vengeance, war, the present system of justice and religions that expect me to behave in accordance with their beliefs.

Oh I nearly forgot I believe if you use Windows over Linux you need :help:

and ....

I think everybody on PPR, or almost, is interested in the abstract.

And that we are all believers ( in something ), and mockers and scorners ( whether politely or more sarcastically ) of other things.

So the easiest way to categorise people on PPR, ( other than by whether they are polite or sarcastic about other people's beliefs, which is more like a continuum ), would be by what they believe, ( which does occasionally change though ).
