I'm pretty sure I don't like you, but I will argue against your point anyway. Obama never said a thing about getting rid of earmarks, he said he was going to cut down on wasteful spending. Like IdahoAspie said, not all earmarks are wasteful spending. Some of them are much needed. Say a state senator is asking for money to build a community center in a city in his state. Some one like you
might say this is wasteful, but how do you know? That's like telling someone not to put a certain couch in their house because you don't like it. You don't know what that specific state or city needs, nor do the people in the federal government. Though I will admit some earmarks are pointless, and there are a few in the new budget, but they make up so little of the budget that there isn't even a point in arguing about it.
