U.S. Gun Violence
I wouldn't be a raptor if I didnt swoop down and scratch their eyes out once in a while.
Really, though. By the logic (<using the term very liberally) that the antis use it should be evident that they cannot be won over.

Yeah, because we all just shoot at people who we get into fights with. It's rather amazing we haven't all been thrown in jail yet - but we know the super-secret password that rich celebrities and politicians teach each other to get things swept under the rug.
I've said too much...

Sounds kind of counterproductive to civil debate and even a bit condescending.....
I get that you're trying, I'm just trying to give you constructive criticism.

Hmmm, where have I heard that before?

I react poorly when being accused of being pissed off all the time and accused of shooting people when I get mad. It's a character flaw.
Now that I think about it, Stannis should probably run scared, given that he clearly just started a conflict with someone who he thinks will take pot-shots at him.

That was meant to be sort of a parody of when you pissed on MY leg the other day for the way I handled your buddy sonofghandi.

Yeah, I know, except it backfired on you. It's actually completely valid criticism.

I agree.

Only to you.

one thing i don't like about anti gun people is they don't understand the word compromise. someone put it in a good light
'its like saying a guy was going to come in your house take all your stuff and kidnap your wife for sex, but instead he came took only half your stuff and only has sex with your wife 2 days a week. He compromised. "
i don't like the we aren't taking your guns just some of your guns. o.O taking some of my guns isn't taking my guns?
they also don't understand common sense is a opinion at least how they use it.
you shouldn't put your hand on a hot burner, that's common sense
saying banning something is common sense when almost half of the population owns it and doesn't think it should be banned isn't common sense.
but year the barrel length law makes no sense. 16" good but 15.9" evil
i hear that both rifle and shotguns were suppose to be 18" but that would have made the m1 carbine illegal so they changed rifles to 16". i wasn't alive back then so idk if that's true but it does make sense.
the UBC they tried to pass last year was so restrictive you couldn't let your friend shoot your gun at a range without transferring it to them and you would only be able to shoot a government approved ranges, (rolls eyes) but hey you could transfer a gun to your gf as long as it stays in the house for up to 10 days but after that it opened up all kinds of problems with how a gun left in your house without you there and not been transferred to your gf via background check would be handled
then we had a law that wanted to make selling a gun to someone who then unknown to you goes and robs a store, you get more prison time then the guy who did the crime. o.O i can't know if someone will be going to commit a crime be it in a day or 2 years from now
my state tried to pass even worse law that would limit each person to 1 gun and allow random searches of everyones(gun owner or not) house to make sure they only have one and it hasn't been moved from the spot is stored. so if you decided to move your safe from the living room to the garage you first need to get permission . safe to say this is why our senators and reps were flooded with emails, letters, and phone calls. and they trying again this year. ugh
and yeah i don't like how the anti's think all gun owners will just shoot people when they disagree or get irritated. i mean if that was true wouldn't there be like 100million dead people by now?
i don't ever use violence, but i will defend myself or others if need be, i only hope that such a situation never happens. i won't even hunt.
they for 1. defense, 2. sport, 3. fun
police can't and aren't everywhere. i'd rather be on the phone reporting i defended myself then bleeding out on the street. there have been plenty of cases where a gun saved lives long before the police could get there. police are trained to quardin off a area and not just rush in and wait for back up in that time more people will die. remember the courts ruled that the police aren't here to protect us but to enforce the law, they show up to protect us out of their own kindness. i've had them tell us they won't come out and in fact in my state a lady was have a guy break in her house and they told her they wouldn't send someone out due to budget cuts and to try the state police who were no where near by, she was then beaten and raped.
my sheriff's department has also had to cut a lot of deputies for this reason and this and the new gun owners of last years gun control attempt have lead to more ccw permits
ideally we'd live in a advanced utopian society but unfortunately as long as humans live in that it'll never be utopian , humans are a violent species , as such there will always be bad people who will do bad things.
if you wish to be a victim that is your choice, i and others don't and that's our choice. I only wish the choice that is protected remain.
which is why i'm also against those laws that require everyone own guns, that is just foolish, some people shouldn't have guns some don't want them to force them to violates their freedom even if the law isn't enforced its dumb
Edit: another example is why have a fire extinguisher when we have firemen?

The levels of vulnerability you experience are virtually unknown in Australia, outside of criminal circles. It is not a utopian expectation for shootings and random violence to be so rare that you never have to realistically worry about them. There is something abnormal about the threat levels in your culture.
I'm actually not talking about banning guns. If you need them to protect yourself, then you need them to protect yourself.
