We do face localized discrimination, but in the vast majority of cases we can just walk across the street or watch a different TV show.

Some people have had left tail experiences, and think it's society's job to make sure they have a more central outcome in their lives.

And your belief is not universal. It's being challenged on legitimate grounds. What you need to demonstrate is some form of justification for your belief that white people have an innate immunity to bigotry by nature of the colour of their skin.

Consider this lecture in a classroom at Towson University:

What would happen were we to replace "white people" with "black people", "Jewish people" or "transgender people"? This is actual racism, in an actual institution, in America, against whites, and it's not even the worst example of such I could provide.

Racism is not confined to collective vs collective. That idea is fundamentally antithetical to civil rights, which apply on the individual level.

I heard bigoted comments against minorities in every business class, save one. You have taken a picture out of context, but let's stipulate that lecture actually happened. So what? It was doubtless in a class where people had signed up to discuss that. My black classmate did not sign up to see irrelevant racist imagery in another student's presentation about pizza production.

But who is being reached by such lectures, other than some nutballs in academia?

There's not a lot of resistance to discussing anything on college campuses in classes. The protests start when the universities host, lionize, and promote the views of public figures. Call them nutcases, but I think people should have whatever debates they want.

It's reached us, here on this forum.

The mere fact that it is deemed acceptable to teach that in an American university in the first place is evidence of institutionalised racism against white people.

Your argument is literally "well, it's only a minority of people being affected by this". If your position is that we should only deal with bigotry that affects the majority of people, why on earth should we waste time worrying about black people, homosexuals, etc? You're being inconsistent again, Bill, in lieu of ceding indefensible ground.

That's why so many of these progressives push a narrative of collectivist identities over individual rights. They wish to free themselves of the burden of having to take the experiences of actual victims of bigotry into consideration, in favour of pushing their political agenda and to shame whites into silence.

Your apologism for racism against your white countrymen epitomises "white guilt".

It's actually spelled The First Amendment.

I'm not arguing the right to free speech, I'm suggesting that any institution which allows hate speech against whites but bans hate speech against blacks is racist.

The rules against hate speech apply to all. Colleges make an exception for classes which relate to the subject. That's the policy.

The reality is that students of color are expected to ignore Amos and Andy frat parties while fielding intellectual challenges to their wish to form a Hispanic Student Union or whatever.

Fraternities have a right to "no Homer", state-funded institutions do not.

Your perpetual motion goalposts aren't contributing anything useful to the discussion.

However, I don't believe there's a "war" against white people.

I'm pretty liberal in some aspects, somewhat conservative in others.

The privilege you and I as white men enjoy is that we can walk or drive virtually anywhere, anytime day or night, and have no fear of being hassled by the police. Or we don't have to worry about being followed by store employees while shopping, suspecting that we're potential shoplifters. We rarely fear being railroaded by the police. I could go on and on about things we rarely have to worry about, simply because we assume law abiding citizens normally don't have to worry about such things. But blacks and brown people do in fact worry about that everyday. That is the privilege you and I as white men enjoy, and so take for granted that we don't even recognize it as privilege.

Absolute white guilt tripe. You really must turn your TV off for a while. Please give some examples of rich black people who get arrested for being black.

I never wrote a single thing about guilt concerning all whites, with the exception of law enforcement, or of certain business owners. My point was, whites aren't usually under the same constant suspicion of having done something wrong simply for their skin color. And that's privilege.
And as a matter of fact, black news correspondents have recalled how they've been stopped by the police way too often, and asked pointedly if they had stolen the expensive car they had been driving. While Oprah Winfrey had been turned away from an extremely high end store, where she apparently hadn't been recognized. So yes, wealthy blacks do suffer from the same treatment as poor blacks.

Not being discriminated against isn't a "privilege". The irony is beyond funny that lots of people now suspect white people of having "privilege" because of their skin color. Maybe she hadn't beend recognised. One rich black person that springs to my mind is O.J Simpson.

Yes, I have. Again, I have already provided it to you. You may also be interested in the wealth of citations attached to this Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Lou ... ontroversy

Personally, over many years I have become very good at distinguishing between fact and fantasy. I am quite capable of Googling a name and finding out quickly what the evidence is whether a certain person was arrested for being in their home, or whether Osama Bin Laden was behind 9/11.

If you are not convinced, then what would you accept as "physical evidence"?

Wasn't evidence. You switch your skepticism around depending on whether it fits your narrative. Well I'm just using the same kind of skepticism I get from most jf you when I post facts.

OK. No frenzy in the media like with other cases though.

The difference between the police shooting of unarmed black men, and this one white guy is, the white guy in question was walking around menacingly with a firearm, making the police feel genuinely threatened. The fact that the article holds this guy in the same light as unarmed black men who may have been victims of police racism and violence is insulting.

You obviously didn't read the article properly, which speaks volumes. He didn't have a rifle.

Please, not the white guilt spiel!
White people are not discriminated against! The movement to roll back so called oppression against whites is wholly reactionary in nature, using mean things said against whites by some as a pretext to roll back rights made by truly discriminated against people, and is ultimately racist in nature.

If the cap fits.

I've provided one clear example that demonstrates this is not true. All you have is a mantra.

Quote:

What movement to roll back rights? That isn't an argument, it's a conspiracy theory.
