Feminist preoccupation with power
Ragtime seems headed for another spanking.
not from a moderator because he's not breaking any rules by being contradictory. but from fellow members.... i'd say it's a very likely scenario.
Lucky bugger - lots would pay for that!
I wonder why the subject of spanking almost invariably cums up when feminism is the discussion topic?
It produces the most peaceful, grateful, and loving attitude in my wife, but I'm not here to talk about that. I'm just saying spanking is not always some horrible, no-good thing. And I'm not speaking in any kink sense whatsoever. God "spanks" us with hardships in life, and it while it hurts, it improves me in the long term.

Do you feel the same about our moderators?

Bah.
Humbug!

I saw a Baptist husband on a "Wife Swap" rerun last night who made me look like a social liberal. He thought the husband should lead the home, alright, but that's about all he gleaned from the entire Bible. So he was just a petulant little boy in a man's body, who didn't believe in discussions with his family at all, but only in him laying down the law and them serving him. He would throw boyish tantrums whenever things didn't go precisely his way. I have a real problem with legalism. It's as bad as total licentiousness. But the wife that stayed in his home was from a punk rocker family, but they also were Christian. I was actually on her side 90% of the time, because she was encouraging him to actually talk to his daughter in a mutual dialogue, instead of only dealing with her in terms of laying down rules and chore schedules.
Just thought that might surprise some of you about me.
As I've said earlier, just because I believe the husband has the final say, doesn't mean I believe every detail of his family's life should be determined by him. There's a huge difference between the husband determining the basics after thorough, frequent, and genuinely-receptive discussions with his family, and a husband deciding to neither hear nor consider any input from them because he doesn't care.

It's funny, for a little while after Obama was elected, all the American people I know were saying things like "thank goodness we now have a President who has a more nuanced view about foreign policy, who won't embarrass our country in front of the world with simplistic nationalism". But now they're all saying things like
I guess Americans are more fond of their good old "America and Israel, right or wrong" worldview than they like to admit.
For the record, Obama reaching out to Russia and the Arab world has in fact had a large positive influence on how the US is viewed internationally.
I differ profoundly from that opinion, but to say more would be to derail the thread.

Many womens shoes are very attractive, actually. Especially those sexxxay stiletto heels like the picture you linked to earlier in this thread.
Not true, social expectation is just more of a motivator to put up with it. Stilettos look a lot less sexy to me now that I've had experience of wearing them. They really, really, really, really, really hurt. Corsets don't as much. Chunky high heels don't hurt as much, but they look less sexy.

As for love " hate your enemies and now its payback time".
As for meekness "let's bring back the Reagun military buildup so we can intimidate our enemies during negotiations".
That's nothing like her or Reagan, but, oh ya, isn't Obama doing such a fantastic job in the foreign relations field? Treat our enemies like friends and our friends like enemies. Brilliant.
But let's stay on topic. This is the Jezebel thread after all.
Hey! No fair getting in an off-topic dig against our President, and then telling us to get back on topic!
At least direct your bile against woman politicians!

Not all sexy clothes are uncomfortable, though. Though most women tell me heels aren't comfortable despite the fact that I see women wearing them even when they aren't expected to and when they aren't necessarily appropriate.
For the record, the bible does say the man is the "head" of the household. However, it also says that the husband needs to cherish, honor, and care for his wife just as well as he does for his own body.
A man who makes descisions to benefit himself rather than his wife or family or "lays down the law" is not being a head at all but a tyrant. They are very different things although I can totally see how someone could equate the two. But that isn't really what it means.

I don't find stilettos to be uncomfortable in themselves.. it depends on what the top is like, it might squish your toes. But it's not the heel that bothers me personally. Might have to do with ankle strength.

I love Michelle Bachmann. A woman can be strong, dynamic, move far up the ranks, and still remain Christian and humble. It's not easy, but she and Palin (among others) prove it's possible.
