This is an advisory to all users of this thread.

Cut out the name calling and utilize rational debate or the mods are going to start to issue warnings.

This will be your only advisory.

Thank You

Life happens. Death happens. Death is not prefered and I really can't say I have an opinion on abortion either way. In some cases it seems the strict carelessness of the mother who doesn't want the inconvenience. In others, there are more complicated factors. Sometimes even health risks.

Plus, once the mother has the baby, the effects can be long lasting. Some even longer for some mothers. It isn't just popping out a baby and then going back to the fields and working till sundown.

As I said, I have no opinion. But perhaps that's because I'm not always so fond of the human race to begin with.

Despite abortion, we already don't take care of the people we have now.

folks, there's a thread on abortion in this forum, at the following link:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... pic&t=4901

could we please continue this discussion there, and leave this thread for the discussion on homosexuality? thank you.

it's difficult to split the thread, as the two subjects are too interwoven - just to let you know why it's all still here.

In any case, my point was that we periodically hear about the shortage of babies and how some of these families wait on lists for a long time or go shopping for a baby outside the country. At the same time we hear about the kids that nobody wants. I don't think banning gay adoption accomplishes *anything* good.

I agree.

I once read an article/piece...I don't remember where...Harper's? Can't recall. It was written by a gay man. He had decided to knowingly adopt an HIV baby, even though he knew that there was a good chance the child would late develop AIDS (they don't always, though, soemtimes they just test positive due to the antibodies they developed in the mom's womb...or something like that). He wrote abotu feeding, nurturing, lovign this little baby girl, watching her grow up, the same tender thigns we'd all write about raising a baby of our own...She did end up with AIDS and he nursed her through that, too, until she died. It was sad but very touching...and I really respected that he had opened his heart to a child not very many would want (this is partly why he was able to adopt her- no straight couple would want her!!) He was planning to adopt another HIV+ baby in time...

I have a hell of a lot more respect for that guy than I do for any *perfect* WASPy couple wanting a perfect child...

Here is the way I look at the gay issue: it's none of my damned business who soemone else loves , unless it involves interference with my love life or affects my life directly and negatively somehow.

For the homophobes here, I have this question: what is it that you want/expect from the gays and lesbians of the world? Is it OK for them to be celibate but still essentially gay? Or should they live in fear and guilt every time they feel a spark of attraction for soemone of the same sex? Should they all commit suicide? I mean, what exactly woudl it take for you to accept them as real people with the same rights as you have?

I just can't see hating someone for no other reason than who they love. I'd spend all my life consumed in hatred at nice guys with trashy girls, and nice girls with asshoel boyfriends who treat them badly. If two people are happy together, fine, good for them, it is not for me to condemn or approve or render any sort of judgement on.

You're right blondie, they didn't ask to be gay, they wanted to be. I'm trying my best not to "flame" when I say that I don't support Homosexuality. I'm not biased against them, I just don't agree with their lifestyle. I have a few gay/bi friends, and they know this about me.

Whether it's normal or not, I honestly don't care. Society's "Normal" is celebrity-worshipping, tv addicted, pill-popping, diet obseesed morons. Whether gay is included with that or not is irrelevant.

I don't know about it being biological though. I haven't read up on that before, an online source would be nice please. Is this one of topics where the research is more opinion than fact? I want some reliable info. :!:

Yeh im sure most gay peeple do wanna be gay, but theres still no more choice in the matter than there is with AS. If they werent gay, then i dont think thered want to be eether, the same way you probably woodnt wanna have AS if you didnt.

Even though I am a Christian, when the topic of homosexuality comes up, I show no emotion twoards it. I really have no opinion of it. If I were to say it was wrong, I would be saying it only because the Bible says so, not because I personally think it's wrong. Some Christians may be upset by this

Only fundamentalists, and thats ok

1 other thing - the bible also says, in these words, "All men are created equal."

Proves my point about every point in the bible being contradicted on one page or another...

Well, 2 out of 4 ain't bad

Seriously though, I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality. I'm not sure whether or not I believe it's completely biological, but I still think that everyone should have their choice of sexual orientation. And I sure as Hell do not agree with all this pushing to make gay marriage illegal just because some old book says it's immoral. I mean, if the Catholic Church wants to ban it, that's their business, but the government should not be involved. Whatever happened to separation of church and state? What's next - a law against gluttony?
