How can you have gluttony without greed? How can greed exist without pride? Thus, if you "only" have gluttony, you have greed and pride as well. The same goes for envy > pride, wrath > pride, and others.

Enjoying food is what I mean by gluttony. However, Webster in 1828 said,

Quote:
Gluttony
GLUT'TONY, n. Excess in eating; extravagant indulgence of the appetite for food.

1. Luxury of the table.

Their sumptuous gluttonies and gorgeous feasts.

2. Voracity of appetite.

So, having a large appetite would be "gluttonous". Perhaps being overweight makes one a glutton? And this is evil somehow? To Barbie and Ken?

Parakeets from Terra Psittacorum are going to take over the world, and I am their leader.

This is a common misconception and it annoys me quite often when I find it. Many overweight people do overeat, but there are plenty that are overweight by the way their body works, from inaction, or from a medical condition (I am aware of two conditions that cause obesity).

Now, you'll notice that the definition is "excess in eating," which is what the Deadly Sin is referring to. Excess of the physical is considered a bad thing in all the major religions (the 3 Western and the 4 Eastern, not counting the newest religions).

Moreover, keep in mind that these are not regular sins we are talking about. These are Deadly Sins. What this means is that these sins are dangerous in addition to being detestable. "Pride comes before the fall" doesn't mean that you're going to Hell (though that would likely be the result), but rather that your a** is going to get handed to you at some point. Gluttony and Sloth both cause a person's health to deteriorate (obesity itself actually seems to not be much of a factor in health if the person is active and eats healthy), and so they are deadly.

Thank you for proving that lust is able to be rationalized. Wouldn't greed by equally justifiable according to the same pattern of thought?

How does greed benefit humanity as a whole? The rational argument I gave for lust shows that it isnt purely selfish, but is necessary for the continued survival of mankind

So why dont YOU explain to us why lust is a bad thing as a whole, and why God is unable or perhaps unwilling to do away with it....

Sex or the desire for sex is not a sin. Lust as a deadly sin is because of excess. Lust itself is kind of necessary (y'know, with procreation and all). Excess lust is the sin and the problem.

What makes you think rationality is better than irrationality?

Bear mind that if you answer this question with any degree of rationality, you will be using a circular argument because you can't use rationality to justify the use of rationality.

Boring.

Irrationality is what turns sexual attraction into lust. Ambition into greed, hunger into glutony. Not being rational is what leads people into wrath or into thinking that being proud is a bad thing... It is also what makes us fall prey of religious stupidity and conspiracy theories. It is the one and only deadly sin, it can not only kill you, it can make you kill others just out of your mere existence of spreading stupidity everywhere. It is also what lead you to make that lame post.

Having the ability and use of reason does not preclude one from committing lust, does it?

You seem to ignore the difference between a necessary condition and a sufficient condition. It is never late to learn even though ignoring it makes you fit the YEC profile ... maybe that's what you want.

Silly attempts to say that avoiding irrationality has anything to do with rationalizing stuff will be ignored after this paragraph due to how stupid they are. Rationalizing things is not the same as being a rational person... (duh)

Rationalization is still a function of reason, using valid logic yet denying unwanted premises.
