At some point those networked corporations will have to topple the governments of their host countries. In small 3rd world countries this is feasible. Some people say that in a sense it has already happened in some places and certain 3rd world countries are run by puppet governments of multinational corporations. This sounds like it would start out as some sort of eco-green version of a multi-national corporation, attempting to win people over with a Google-ish "Don't Be Evil" motto of change. It would win converts this way at first. People really bought in to "Don't Be Evil" at first too. It could probably take over small countries in a stealthy sort of way. Costa Rica? It's when it attempted to take over the U.S., China, Russia, Britain, Japan etc. that WWIII would start.

An opinion solidly based on history and a grasp of human psychology.

You proposals are simplistic, unrealistic and a-historical.

They also want love, admiration and status none of which readily measurable in physical terms.

Anyone who thinks it's reasonable to even entertain the nonsense from the Venus Project has very little credibility when they criticize other people's "simplistic" views.

Strictly speaking, no, but a lot of your comments are about economic growth and what it requires.

The big issue is that whatever they want will end up being a resource.

So, if human beings want status, other humans are likely going to have to be lower in status. If they want vacation time, then something else will have to substitute for the work. If they want sexual attention, then they likely want more than their fellows. Etc. While there is some malleability, there is not likely some way outside of an economizing box on the matter.

Nothing of that was really an argument, but rather a re-inforcement of the dominant ideological paradigm.

Ok, here it comes. Both barrels.

They say that the world is overpopulated, which in an overall sense is true but really isn't.

Actually all the Western countries have a birth rate below population replacement. The populations of Russia and Italy are dropping by hundreds of thousands a year.

The world population is going up because people in a few countries are breeding like rabbits. Look at the population of Bangla Desh.

And why can their population increase? Because WE give them billions of dollars in food and medicine.
As a child I remember do-gooders raising money for "the starving Nigerians".
Well they are STILL starving but now there are TWICE as many of them as there were then.

They have destroyed their own ecology and chopped down all the trees like in Haiti and Bangla Desh.
Now they are shooting each other and chopping each other up with machetes.

What is our answer? "Oh, we must invite millions of these people to come and live in OUR countries, because that is the "nice" and "fair" thing to do".

"The world is overpopulated so don't have children of your own". Better you should adopt an African baby like all the movie stars do.

Words cannot express how angry I am that we have chosen our own extinction to be "politically correct"

Within fifty years America will be majority Mexican and Europe will be majority Muslim.

-Corporations powerful enough to rival governments emerge.
-Some of them adopt the values you mentioned
-Others (there are always others; world market) remain steadfastly capitalist
-Capitalism is a more robust system, and as you mentioned always must grow, and these corporations do.
-Some of them adopt your pretty ideas about world change through corporate power.
-Corporations now rule the world. There's some wars between hired guns, endless urban sprawls and I can now buy scud missles to spice up the garden if I have the cash.

I will continue to advocate it until my guts are ripped out from my stomach by people getting tired of me, or until the success is reached, thank you. If I didn't believe such a world was possible, I would rather kill myself. I am also very active in real life for the coming of such a world order.

So I am not another naïve youth who should be "talked into his senses".

You cannot change human nature. Humans are selfish for genetic reasons. Selfishness is a genetic characteristic that is passed from one generation to the other because it promotes reproductive success, which is all that nature "cares" about.
