I think the bee in 'Keet's bonnet isn't so much racism directed against whites, but it's tolerance by people that would not tolerate similar sentiments being expressed if they were targeted at other groups.(correct me if I'm wrong here) Bigotry is bigotry, and there is no such thing as '"reverse racism", it's all the same and all equally bad; to be truly fair you don't get to take historical inequities into account when crafting laws and regulations.

Hanotaux actually has an interesting thread going about the fallacy of presentism, which is applying current moral standards to historical figures and their actions. His point there, and he does have one, is that when this fallacy is applied in teaching and textbooks it casts Europeans in general as the villains of history and fosters not only resentment among some minorities but self loathing in some white people, such as 'Keets former employer.

I've been in higher-education most of the last decade.

I can tell you two axioms: In history books, black people can do no wrong.

- Also, no other minority can do wrong.

It was the exact same in my "army knowledge" I received when I entered US Army basic training in 2005. In basic training, you receive a small manual, with a section covering Army history. 9/10ths of the Army history was dedicated to the exploit of several minority soldiers, with an actual minimal reference to any white soldiers or even the general overview of any rather important conflicts involving the Army, like WWII. Most of the text covered 4 or 5 black and Mexican soldiers who were Medal-of-Honor recipients, in a contrived effort to showcase "the contributions of everyone." The only white soldiers even mentioned were in a brief postscript to Medal-of-Honor recipients Gordon and Shugart(Somalia 1993.)

Besides that, they would have you think that the Army had always been a primarily black instiution that had only functioned thanks to the contributions of brave black soldiers who had always formed the absolute core and heart of the Army.

Hey parakeet:

Shooting for fast-food employment is not something you want to aspire to anyway. Why do you even care about doing a good job at McDonalds and stuff like that? Those jobs are the lowest of the low and have no dignity. You need to shoot for some professional status.

If black shift managers hire only blacks at Fast Food, its not like anyone is really going to say anything. I don't see why any white would even want to work there?

While it may be anecdotal, some years ago, my mom worked as janitor at a public school. One of her co-workers was a black man who got promoted to janitorial supervisor. After his promotion, he had complete leverage over the hiring and did not even consider any applications that weren't black. White, Mexican, Muslim, etc, applications all got ignored. Every new worker hired in the last 10 years was black, until the school janitorial service became an all black institution. Obviously he wanted it to be an all black workforce and look out for his own.

White people should not want to work somewhere anyway where the hiring procedures proceed as such. Whites should shoot for something better anyway than fast food or menial work where they get hired and fired by petty minority managers seeking to adjust the workforce based on race and hire their own.

No one will really bat an eyebrow if a McDonalds that is mostly black just chooses to hire all-black.

Anyway, I can't see someone such as yourself(parakeet,) having anything in common with your minority coworkers. I don't see why you would think about anything else besides getting as far away from there as possible. In fast food, it doesn't matter what kind of service you provide anyway. There are no real standards. Its just minimum wage crap that is beneath white America, until fast food stops employing immigrants, and adds some dignity to those jobs and pays a decent wage.

It's work that I enjoyed doing even though people were always looking for ways to get rid of me. It was fun being so much better at the work I did than others that I was valuable to them financially even though they hated me personally.

Also, I haven't a clue where to start looking for any jobs that pay better than minimum. I'm getting a bachelor's degree in accounting currently, but after a year of being at Rasmussen college I'm kind of feeling disillusioned with "higher education" as compared to what I thought it was. I feel like Nathaniel Bowditch probably would have if he actually attended Harvard as he kept seeking to and instead of a place intended to foster the obtainment and understanding of knowledge Harvard turned out to be a business using students merely as cash cows to leach loan and grant money - which is precisely what Rasmussen is. I can and have learned more from buying used textbooks from Half Price than from my last year in Rash-Mustard©. If any of my prospective employers have ever had experience at Rasmussen, they probably would be sympathetic but also probably use it as grounds for disqualification. The only jobs in my area seem to be only general customer service oriented, and along the bus route it is not too much different.

My wife has a job at a kindergarden, it may or may not surprise you that she was hired in order for her employer to be able to claim the status as an Equal Opportunity Employer©... aside from my wife and a Mexican woman, there is only one shade of melanin hired there.

I don't know the situation in the US, but there isn't racism against white people in general over here. There's just a lot of classism against poor whites, of which I am a little guilty, myself.

What have you been prevented from doing because you're white? Other than join some minority special interest group.

I don't know if it is more accurately called reverse-racism™ or tolerance™ or bigotry™, as it seems as if all those words have been used beyond having much meaning. I have tried using the term "oppositional racism"© to denote the switching of socially accepted racism in the past to that which is diametrically opposite.

When framing new laws it would certainly be better if they didn't try to undo historical wrongs by going to opposite extremities, and also, even if laws are made to correct a situation in the present, the framing of laws shouldn't be so myopic as to assume the present situation is eternal. Each generation has different views compared to those before and after them, so laws affecting the present time ought to, at least, have limitations in time after which they should be reviewed to decide whether they ought to be continued, changed, or dropped. Some laws, like gun laws in Minnesota, do have such limitations, but others seem to be a whole lot more permanent and need to at least be revised to account for the present situations if nothing else.

This is becoming very common. The best thing is for whites just to avoid these places of employment and not waste their time.

Its the same with things like applying for Sec-8 housing and other govt. programs. My cousin with 4 daughters went to put in for Sec-8, and the processing clerk told her that she needn't even bother applying as she was 'the wrong color." What she meant by that was obviously implied. In many ways, being black makes you "more equal" in today's America. Besides the many companies and managers that now hire only blacks, and the black-prioritized receiving of government benefits, blacks are also far less constrained by political correctness. In today's America, being black is "the right color."

In America, if you want any government assistance, you have to play by the stringent government rules that comprehensively cover these things.

As far as employment goes, I think self employment is your best bet. Either that or try and use your social connections to find a decent job. The best bet is just to build your social network and plant seeds all over the place. Just get out and talk to people and your neighbors, and eventually I think you will stumble your way into some decent position.

I'd personally suggest to any white who can't find work in academia(for obivous reasons,) to look at construction, or some kind of manual trade. I would also suggest looking into a fast-growing sector like security. Be a security guard.

if you attitude at work is anything like your attitude on these threads, it could lead to your difficulties in finding and keeping work. maybe it has nothing to do with race at all.

Postposterous topic

This thread should be in Random, that is, Randy Forum.

I remember when your threads, I-Keet, used to be very scholarly and quite interesting. You are a very intelligent person, and I have always been impressed by your ability to teach yourself languages. I can do a passible French, after forty years of teaching myself, but you taught yourself Greek, Latin and Hebrew in a very short space of time. You have stated your IQ is high, and I can believe it.

This post is not to flatter you. I do not go in for crap like that.

Why are you against citizens of your own town/state who may not be as bright as you and need McJobs? With your intelligence you should be abl;e to get some sort of scholarship. Often married couples can live on lower incomes while one studies. And if you are AS you may qualify for special subsidies. Please investigate this. there is always a way, though it might take some time to see where the journey starts.

Good luck. And venting/ranting is the first step to try to solve a problem. But do not get bogged down in it, as it is mucky to try to extracate yourself.

My attitude may indeed be a factor, however it seems likely to me that the racism, and seeking of taxation benefits, of employers in my area is also a factor.

^ You shouldn't have to "stop being conservative" and conform to diversity in order to get a job. Be who you are and if you can't work somewhere where your views don't fly, than so much the better. I wouldn't shed a tear if the McJob shift manager denied my application on the grounds of being white....... I'd not want to go anywhere near that establishment.

As I said, security is a booming business(I wonder why,) and most firms are white-friendly. It is also an AS-friendly occupation with minimal social interaction and little stress besides monitoring things. I think it would actually be the perfect occupation for you.

I don't think things are going to work out for you in heavily-minoritied environments. You won't mesh with the culture. They see that you aren't one of them and that is why they make it hard for you. I don't even think it has to do with "being white," but more so not being able to fit in with them and liking the same pop-culture and rap music that they like.

Also, lots of people work in fast food as a cover to deal drugs. I don't know if you realize this or not, but at some fast food places, the whole staff is "in on it."

From your posts, it is clear that you are quite conservative so working in a multicultural environment with high social demands isn't for you. It takes alot to deal with dysfunctional and low-IQ people who naturall gravitate towards McJobs. Find something better, or at least somewhere where you can be alone. Don't "conform" to diversity either.

Your "attitude" isn't a problem......... its just that you are not the same as the Mcminority-workers and they'll never accept you.

There was a movie from the 1980's, I don't remember the title, but it was about a white guy trying to get into college but he couldn't afford it so what he did was overdosed on suntan pills until his skin looked dark enough and he did something with his hair too, following this he applied for a scholarship for African Americans only and after an interview was provided the scholarship. The rest of the movie was this guy beating himself up for doing this, but it was both an interesting and a saddening notion to me that such would be all it would take to get policy based privileges.

Your relative with 4 kids getting turned down with the explicitly stated Reason© that she was The Wrong Color™ would be more than frustrating to say the least.
