Your thoughts about Donald Trump?
I'd support protectionism (if we insist upon a capitalist economic system in any form that is) and troop withdrawal, but neither position is exclusive to the left of course.
In fact.....I hear way more about protectionism these days from people like Pat Buchanan, Ron Paul and other rightists.
As for troop withdrawal....I also hear quite a bit about that (and agree with it....and feel like i'm agreeing with devils...LOL) from the same sort of people.
Donald Trump did consider running for the Reform Party in 2000 (Pat Buchanan's former party).
As inexpressibly absurd and unspeakably horrifying as it is....I think Trump actually has a fighting chance of being the next president of the United States provided he runs of course.
Consider the preposterous morons and viperous sociopaths hundreds of millions of Americans have cast their vote for. The did so through the entire 20th century and this proud American tradition has continued, with great virulency, to this day.
William Jennings Byran?....a "liberal democrat" to be sure....but a bats**t christian maniac if there ever was one.
Joseph McCarthy?...need I comment upon the monstrous insanity of this man?
Sarah Palin.....are you f**king kidding me?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I truly believe this sort of idiocy qualifies as evidence for a gene pool in America that is more polluted than the love canal ever was

Cenk Uygur, Jacoby, and a lot think he's faking this run. But I think there's a pretty good chance he'll run - he's going very deep into the birtherism stuff, energizing the Tea Party crowd, and is the Tea Party favourite out of various probably contenders. He has the money to become the plutocrat in chief.
Bryan was really an old school populist. While he was wrong as hell on science, prohibition and the place of religion in government, he was right about the gold standard and a lot of important policies. In many ways he's economically leaps and bounds ahead of the corporate welfare statists America has at the helm today.

I think you misunderstand Paul's position on NAFTA, WTO, etc. as being against free trade and thus protectionist. NAFTA is not really free trade despite the name; there is really nothing "free" about it. It is "managed trade" with hundreds rules and stipulations and whatever.
But yea, Trump and Buchanan are big proponents of protectionism.

The first link is broken. The second link takes me to a website with an image of Obama's certificate of live birth, not his birth certificate.

Bryan had a crappy sense of economics and would have been too weak at foreign policy to win the Spanish-American war and would have hindered America's rise to superpower status. He didn't appear to be a sociopath, and if you examine his religious views in the context of the time he lived in rather than in the context of modern self-righteous liberal standards, you would realize that his religious views were pretty typical back then.
McCarthy would have been great! He had a great grasp of what was at stake in the cold war and a great gift of foresight to see how subversive communists and their sympathizers could be, especially in the media. He was probably a narcissist, but not a sociopath.
Palin has a really good understanding of economics and energy policy, and appears to be a fast learner when it comes to national security. At times, her own mouth is her worst enemy. She may be eccentric, but that should not be mistaken for stupidity or sociopathic behavior.

The communist threat in america was in my oppion a moral panic. McCarthy was a moron.
saying Palin has a Really good understanding of economics and appears to be a fast learner at anything but self promotion

Sociopathy, psychotic signs and borderline intellectual functioning aren't exactly vice presidential qualities eh?
Then again....they (or some configuration of these three....sociopathy almost always being one at least) often are in Muruka'.

You're spot on about Palin, JV. Browning, generally I appreciate your blunt honesty but Palin wouldn't do you conservatives any good- its not just her mouth that is her problem, there is something missing behind her eyes...
I'd be the first to say that McCarthy was a moron and a man who caused moral panic, but oddly enough, after the USSR disbanded, apparently, it was revealed there actually were Communist infiltrators. I mean, there are several famous cases, including two men involved in the Manhattan project.

One has to wonder if Harper is receiving oral sex from representatives of American "Defense" (<another tricky euphemism, since America the innocent is ALWAYS defending itself against formidable threats like Grenada and Laotian peasants

Back to the issue of Donald Trump - I went to college with a retired military officer (from his views, was not one of the most liberal people I've ever met) who was under the opinion that of all the people murdered in New York each year, he didn't understand why no one ever pulled Trump out of his limo, and knifed him to death.
