The aesthetic arguement only works when discussing adult males and even then I'd be personally opposed to it. It's never a good thing to force unnatural physical expectations and when it's forced on infants it crosses the line to immoral.

Loving parents hire men in white coats to stick needles into the flesh of their infants. How natural is that?

ruveyn

Considering those needles aren't a permanent addition and there are actual medical benefits I'm not sure what your point is.

Cancer of the glans penis is unknown among the circumcised. And we do not suffer from the Curse of Smegma.

False.

Neither do I.

I'm entitled to my opinion on abortion as you are on circumcision. I'm against circumcision unless it is for medical reasons since it is unnecessary these days given that we have much better hygiene. Makes as much sense as clipping a woman's clit along with her p**** flaps since both dicks and p*****s produce smegma.

Rinsing the foreskin while showering seems to scare off the evil curse of dick cheese just fine.

anecdotal evidence suggests that adult circumcision can result in a reduction in penile length of up to 2 inches, so this is untrue on a number of counts, i'm afraid.

He must be kidding because his Muslim brothers are cut, too. That means he includes Osama bin Laden and Muammar Gaddafi amongst 'the best'. Apparently, Shakespeare and Da Vinci don't count because they were northern barbarians with intact foreskins.

It ain't length. It is diameter. And the skill to use it.

The origination of male circumcision is not known with certainty. It has been variously proposed that it began as a religious sacrifice, as a rite of passage marking a boy's entrance into adulthood.

Infant circumcision was taken up in the United States, Australia and the English-speaking parts of Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and to a lesser extent in the United Kingdom.

Although it is difficult to determine historical circumcision rates, one estimate of infant circumcision rates in the United States holds that 32% of newborn American boys were being circumcised in 1933.

In some cultures, males must be circumcised shortly after birth, during childhood, or around puberty as part of a rite of passage. Circumcision is commonly practised in the Jewish Islamic and Christian faiths.

again, an overwhelming amount of anecdotal evidence suggests otherwise.

Scientifically, anecdotal evidence is worth sh*t. Is there a scientific study backing up this canard.

Ruveyn, it's tough to admit you may have seriously and permanently wronged your offspring, but the cycle has to end somewhere. Give up the wick nonsense, and make sure no more of your descendants get cut.

Well,

[wearin' my doctor hat]

The link between circumcision and penile cancer prophylaxis is well established. But given the relatively low incidence of penile cancer, circumcision does not appear to be a necessary course of action.
There is solid evidence that circumcision has a statistically significant impact in reducing the transmission of HIV from female to male during vaginal intercourse. But it is certainly not as effective as condoms.
There are demonstrable links between circumcision and reduced incidences of a variety of other urological disorders.

At the end of the day, I would solidly agree that circumcised men are going to realize a demonstrable benefit over uncircumcized men. However, that benefit is marginal, many of the conditions are eminently treatable, and more effective prophylactics exists for many of them. In the end, the marginal benefit is not likely sufficient to justify circumcision as a routine neonatal practice.

[wearin' my "mine's cut" hat]

I have experience absolutely no sexual dysfunction connected with my circumcision. It works as promised.

At least three studies have found that men circumcised as adults demonstrated a longer interval before ejaculation, which may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Other impacts demonstrated included reduced sensitivity, but with no reduction in sexual activity and greater reported satisfaction. This may not be a particularly reliable finding, however, because a significant number of adult circumcisions are performed on men who present a sexual dysfunction for which the circumcision is indicated. The etiology for increased satisfaction may well be the resolution of the preexisting condition just as much as the circumcision in se.

[wearing my gay man hat]

I have no strong feelings. I have had partners of both cut and uncut persuasions, and neither presented any advantage over the other.
