A white guy speaks on racism
I think you're projecting; white supremacists are universally the dregs of society, losers who have nothing at ALL to contribute to society and therefore cling to the idea that at least they're the master race.
You mean White Supremacists like the Founding Fathers of your country, and the majority who built it, governed it and lived in it for most of its history? Yeah, real losers.
You're right on one thing: I should have said, 'modern white supremacists, who don't have the historical excuse of an overtly supremacist culture from the cradle.'
Racism is pervasive; deliberate white supremacists are a pathetic minority. Is that clear enough for your tiny brain?
Jews can 'pass' as white if they care to do so, but synagogues and people participating in Jewish ceremonies, or who overtly identify as Jewish, are often targets of hate crimes. In addition, Jews are referred to as a "them," an overtly 'other' out-group by many white supremacists. Again, is that now simple enough for you? There are complexities to this - it's not just a pervasive white 'us' vs. a slavering crowd of non-white 'them.' Different white supremacists draw the line at different places (I once heard an interview with a former skinhead who admitted to beating the tar out of another skinhead because the latter said that the former's half-Italian daughter wasn't 'white.' The border of whiteness is not solid and is not universally agreed upon; even what is generally considered 'white' has changed over time. At one point, the Irish weren't considered 'white' despite being generally paler than the average Continental European).
I don't have a television, thank you. As was noted by Ruveyn, I speak to North American, specifically United States, issues because I'm a citizen and resident of the United States.
Why should the human species care about its continued existence either? Humans, monkeys, cats, dogs - we're all made of the same stuff.
Wanting to exist is supremacist!
Jesus, you're stupid. There's a difference between wanting to enjoy one's own life and insisting that one's own type of person is so f*****g important that every single last allele of one's own type must continue to exist in perpetuity or all of humanity will end.
Thanks for reinforcing my impression of modern white supremacists.
one only has to look at the BNP membership list to see how supreme the British White nationalists are.
They are not exactly speaking from positions of power.

Nope, sorry, the principle is the same. If it is normal for a person to care about themselves, their family and the human species, then it is normal for them to care about their race.
Making an exception at the level of the race (or rather with regards to one particular race) is inconsistent. Where is your justification for doing so and for attacking those who do not? The holy book of some revealed religion perhaps? Since you are an atheist, that can't be so.
By the way, caring about one level (individual, family, race, species etc) has nothing to do with thinking that if you do not, the next level will perish. That is a straw man argument that exists only in your own head.
Now dear, just because it's so easy for me to pick apart your value system, try not to wail and gnash your teeth so much.

To which the obvious reply would be, along the lines of LKL, "oh no, if we don't get rid of White people, then all of humanity will end".
Brilliant, peebo.
Of course, people like you simply must be in the right here. You just have a hard time explaining why.

not at all, codarac. in fact i've just noticed that you mention "the human species". however it appears that you advocate consideration for your own racial group above the human species as a whole.
i can't speak for lkl, however it seems clear that any notion of "getting rid of white people" simply extends to notions of ending privilege ostensibly grounded in culture but wrongly interpreted by some (read:yourself) as having some basis in genetics. the idea of actually obliterating an entire "race" is generally the grounds of religious extremism and flaky "extreme right" ideological notions.
agreed?
also, you appear to be generalising a bit when referring to people like me. i'd imagine my own aspect and general world-view to be rather at odds with a lot of other people who are disagreeing with you on this thread and others, and it seems rather counter-productive to simply conveniently label anyone in disagreement with your own position as some sort of easily definable "other" with common characteristics. although this is perhaps rather telling of your general disposition.

I agree with Gedrene. Race and family are not the same thing. For example, some people's conception of race would drive a stake through a family or did you not watch 'Guess who's coming to dinner?'

Alright, LKL, I listened to the thing all the way through. I gave you an hour of my time. Give me a few minutes.
I'm a white guy, and I grew up in a de facto segregated part of NC. Southeastern NC is like that in places. I remember my father telling me I shouldn't go through that part of town because "it's where the black people live." Well, I guess I should have listened to him because eventually a band of hoodlums came to my house, which was near this area, and began vandalizing it. Eventually, I tried going out and reasoning with them, and I was body-slammed on the asphalt. Apparently, treading repeatedly on their turf as if I belonged there pissed them off.
You know, you'd think I would become a racist after that, but I'm afraid I was a little too dense at that age for a detail like that to really register in my brain. It didn't register either that most of the people at my school who actually lashed out at me physically for being weird, obviously queer, excessively young-looking, and apparently mentally unstable were black people.
Well, I guess I must be really dense because it never really occurred to me that I was targeted because I was white, and I still don't think that I was ever targeted for being white. I was targeted because I stood out, I looked vulnerable, and making me feel small made them feel a little bigger. By making me the mudsill and dumping ground of society, they didn't have to think of themselves as being at the bottom. It's the same thing that has always compelled white trash to be the loudest and meanest racists around.
Hell, I even know for a fact that they were being even crappier to other black people who "didn't quite fit in." If you want to know something about what Hell is like, try being a gay black guy. People who have the same skin color that you do will try to see just how much they can dump on you and make you feel like you want to die, and it will work. Believe me, if the people around you want you to lose your will to live, that is one thing that can be taken away from you. You don't believe that it will ever happen until you're looking for the right pill to put you to sleep. I'm sorry, but the world is unjust, and you're not immune.
You can talk all the smack you want to about the "people in power" or the "people at the top." It's easy to cast the blame on them because "they ain't hurtin'." It's easy to believe that they got their position in society by coming and taking it away from the "little people." You can imagine that all wealth is there for everyone by serendipity and the will of God, and all inequality exists because the "people at the top" are hoarding it. I think that's a crock.
If you really want to know where the big conspiracy is and where it lives, it's in our own psychology. It is encoded in our genes. I doubt that this fact is ever going to be widely accepted because it suggests that the enemy is not only somewhere within our bloodstream, but it bears the suggestion that there is not some pill we can take to clean it out like an everyday infection. The suggestion in there is that the disease that causes racism is built deeply into your own hard wiring. The suggestion in there is that, by nature, a part of us is evil, and this gets in the way of our ability to love ourselves.
Our inability to acknowledge this fact, that there is something inherent in us that makes us racist or causes us to be homophobic, is tied in with the overall problem. We do not like to acknowledge that we are screwed-up. We don't like acknowledging if we are losers. We don't like acknowledging that in fact there is something wrong with us, and we don't like acknowledging that it's our fault. We look for something or someone besides ourselves to cast the blame on.
LKL, Everything your speaker said was absolutely true. I'm not exaggerating there. I could listen to that whole video over again and stop it every thirty seconds and take notes, and I doubt that I could find a single thing in there that I could say is anything but the cold, hard truth. Some of my ancestors owned slaves, and they probably loved talking about how leisurely and intoxicating their lives were because they had slaves and poor white folk to serve them hand and foot. They talked about their success with the sense of pirates counting their loot. They thought it was the funniest thing ever, and they were very much in the wrong. It was shameful, and it was to an incredible extreme vulgar. It is very true that the black people and a lot of poor white folk were screwed over very badly by some of my ancestors. There is another side to that truth, though, if you're willing to listen to it.
Here is the truth that nobody is going to ever want to acknowledge: being persecuted and victimized doesn't turn you into a saint. We like to imagine that there is a little justice in a group of people being persecuted by thinking that the downtrodden are somehow angelic and innocent and by default destined for Heaven by virtue of being downtrodden, but that's just another way we avoid having to acknowledge the injustice and evil in this world. It helps us avoid acknowledging that a lot of the evil in this world is there because we, in our stupidity, put it there. Nine times out of ten, if you give people every reason to feel hateful and bitter toward society, that's what you'll get. They will take out their misery on the people around them, especially whoever looks the most vulnerable and easy to hurt, and it can throw them into a self-destructive cycle of viciousness that feeds cannibalistically on itself. Ultimately, they end up with contempt toward themselves and contempt toward the world around them. They become part of the problem.
Sure, you can point out indelicately that the self-destructive behavior we see so often in black people started with bad behavior on the part of the white people, and you should. White people should never EVER be allowed to live down that shame. Acknowledging that the white people caused it doesn't cause the self-destructive behavior to go away, though. If we're lucky, it might help us avoid creating another group of people who are caught in that sort of cycle, but that's like saying "I can avoid getting HIV now that I know to wear a condom." The damage is done.
Therefore, if you are a black person and you feel that the world treats you unfairly, you're probably right. Deal with it. I just made myself look ugly by saying that didn't I? Most white people wouldn't be willing to do that for you. They don't want to look ugly in front of you. Well, maybe someday you'll realize that I'm the one who has been the real friend to you when I say, you're the only one who can fix yourself. I can't. I'm helpless to make all of the evil and injustice and ugliness in your world go away. You are the only one who can make the choice to change yourself and start making things better.
wh***y couldn't do it for you if he wanted to, and I wish more of you (and I know many of you do) would just believe that some of us do truly wish that we could. A lot of white people wish they could close their eyes, say a prayer, and when our eyes are open again have everything just be okay. It just doesn't work that way. It never has. The angel in your life is the black man who chooses to lead by positive example. By doing so, he takes away every excuse you have to wallow in self-pity. But if you can't find that angel anywhere, lucky you: you just got picked for the job.
I don't hate anyone's race or anything, but is it just a coincidence that when my wife and I went out to eat this happened and that stuff like this happens all the time?:
Ok, first of all, we aren't completely white but we look white as hell. We were at a grill restaurant where the chef cooks the food in front of you and we were sitting there waiting for almost half an hour. Then, right before the chef came out, a mexican family sits next to us. Not only did they get full service first and we had to wait an extra 20 mins, but the chef put so much effort into all their food I was expecting a lot from him. I was disappointed however, because he probably spent 3 minutes on our food and gave us much smaller servings. He also didn't give us nearly as much kindness and personality as he gave the others.
Just a coincidence?
White people think they get better treatment than others?

there are many reasons why this may have happened. for instance, given that you a posting here, i might assume you have some form of autism, which may result in you having poor body language, appearing aloof, etc. etc.. people working in restaurants will often discriminate for the most arbitrary of reasons, often coming down to whether they think you are going to spend a lot/give a large tip etc.
i am white, but often dine in a couple of pakistani restaurants in the local area here (there is a large pakistani community in the area in which i live) which are generally patronised by locally domiciled pakistani people. generally i get good service and reasonable portions, at least comparable to the pakistani clientele. perhaps you are not a regular at the restaurant at whic you dined, but the mexican family were?
as i said, theere are myriad reasons...

Even using the racialists logic, White is not a dependable group it is too large and multiphyletic.
What do a Greek an Irishman and a Scandinavian have in common to a greater degree than a black and a "white" Englishman do?
American Blacks have a shared history. American Whites do not. We have multiple ethnic histories.
the equivalent of Black pride is Irish pride, Polish pride, English pride etc. not White pride.
