All these folks repeat the same memes - like an echo chamber. Where is the evidence?

IMO, it is almost entirely a fabrication - and a potentially dangerous one.

The video's credibility is predicated on whether he is telling the truth. Great video. If true, another reason to be against big government and be Libertarian. Listen to George Orwell.

Once government gets too big you will be forced to do their bidding. There would be no checks and balances like what free markets have.

This is a disturbed young man who didnt like people. Period. And he tied up his nihilism with a fictional bow from the Batman universe. He thinks it's funny. Why make this complicated?

Truth is an untestable abstraction. The video's credibility is predicated on evidence. He provides none, because he is simply repeating common memes.

if ever there was a sweeping statement, this is it.

we are talking about a concept that might happen in the future and one where we have no ways of knwoing any details at all as to what that concept means practically or theoretically for that matter.

it could manifest in a thousand different ways, some truly dystopian in nature and others quite the opposite.

It is sweeping, yes. IMO, we need global governance and global government - now, more than ever.

And what powers would this one world government have? Centralized power is rarely a good thing.

Well, I am not designing it, so I don't know. :P However, I would like to see a decentralized or federalist system - a mix of localism and socialist globalization.

as nominalist put it i wouldnt know, no one does since it hasnt been created yet.
i think we can all agree we would like to maintain or improve on our personal freedoms, that however also has to fit into a bigger framework and it's far from an all or nothing decision.

also what do you mean by centralized power?

in some ways a non regulated system would actually increase the amount of centralized power,
some companies today exert equal power to many nations despite regulation.
while that nation, if democratic, actually represents millions, a company can in some cases be boiled down to the actions of dozen individuals or less, sometimes a single person.

isnt democracy in a sense the exact opposite?
i dont think anyone here is arguing that we should blindly dismiss(read as not at all) one of the rightfull cornerstones of modern society.

i also think there should be multiple levels of decision, based in part on geography or local culture, some things like healthcare and education however would be better served if regulated globally, a properly derived guaranteed annual income could also do away with bulky safety nets and a lot of the tax beurocracy as well.
its essential to encourage starting enterprise with an income under which they simply arent taxed, in denmark that limit is quite low, some 10k usd, but even that makes it very easy to start a personal company, something many people use to great effect, any income you actually receive yourself as a person will still have to be counted towards taxable income.

There are profits to be had in fear.

Not that I give credence to illuminati or conspiracy theories , if anything these wacky ideas are put forth by people to distract from the real issues going in.

The more magic and supernatural abilities you attribute to wrong doing the more power you give it. Hitler knew this fact well and played this up as a means of getting otherwise "sane" people to go along with his plans. He knew as well as anyone that the occult stuff was garbage, but it's easier to get people to get people to go along with something if they believe in outside forces greater than themselves.

would this really be world government, then, rather than a loose, co-operative network of communities who come together to discuss bigger issues?

without being at all disparaging to the original poster, i have to say that i find his particular worldview fascinating. the term "conspiracy theorist" is generally used to define it, although i don't think this is really an accurate or useful term.

in any event, it would appear that at a certain point in life, a person can come to the understanding that the world may not be all that it seems. there are clearly many pernicious elements within the powerful individuals and groups who wield enormous power and influence over things.

my thinking is that, in some circumstances, an individual will find this realisation hideously frightening, and will make attempts at rationalising it any way that they can. in these cases, a conclusion might be reached that the only way to rationalise the perhaps dire circumstances that the world currently finds itself in is to attribute it to a powerful group with nefarious goals. at this point, almost anything that happens anywhere in the world that is newsworthy is attributed to this group, and a form of confirmation bias is subconsciously employed to prove these connections. once beyond a certain point in this trajectory of thinking, the sheer absurdity of some of these conclusions is totally missed by such individuals, as their continuing sanity rests on their core belief that bad things only happen because of this nefarious group and their activities.

this is fueled obviously by the growth of the internet, the ability of such individuals to network and communicate via fora and suchlike, and obviously the feeding in to these networks of those who are obviously experiencing poor mental health, and hold delusional beliefs in relation to such things as electronic harassment, secret technology being put to nefarious ends, the us of a being a communist conspiracy, 4th dimensional beings farming us for energy, popular culture being a conspiracy to control the masses. in some circumstances there is an element of truth in these assumptions. the latter, for instance, seems to be based upon a fundamental misunderstanding of theodor adorno and max horkheimer's ideas relating to mass culture and the culture industry. the also quite often like to talk of "hegelian dialectic" in an odd and very flawed manner.

i think that the extreme logical conclusion of this line of enquiry is sadly quite often the onset of serious mental health issues, and in the worst cases hospitalisation and forced treatment. which, obviously, does nothing but fuel the delusional ideas, until the neuroleptics kick in to the point where critical thinking generally is dulled to the point where meaningful existence is all but impossible.

the sad part of it is that the origin of this trajectory in thought is generally an inquisitiveness and thirst for understanding that suggests a level of intelligence, that, however, is unfortunately skewed so far from rationality as to perpetuate the circumstances that lead to the situation described above.

hope i haven't rambled to much here.

I'm really surprised you can't peice this together for yourself. They want to take away citizen's means to defend themselves as they create a police state dedicated to fighting "terrorism. Why would an unknown gunman, with no criminal record go out and get
a bunch of guns and kick IN an EXIT door? You can't come IN from an EXIT, and then they say that he "stood up" so was in already, or did he come in from an exit? Their story isn't straight. There's a million different versions, it was during the DARK KNIGHT which was a really bad film apparently - so bad that RAPE and DEATH threats were being made on Rotten Tomato's website they had to shut the comment sections down. TPTB are not stupid, they are infact sitting back and laughing while everyone is confused and disorientated and desensitized to violence. We're so desensitized that none of us know what to do. This is a PLAN. It may not make sense to you because you're ignorant.

No. It doesn't make sense to be because I'm educated. If I was a nefarious evil conspiracy with absolutely no morals (or, evidently, operational standards, which are typically possessed by folks with no morals) I wouldn't shoot up a random theater in order to effect my Orwellian police state. You know what I would do?

Bomb schools. Release mustard gas in shopping malls. Attempt to take out the foundations of major apartment buildings or office complexes.

Y'see, even though this tragedy is on a massive scale compared to 'normal' homicide in the USA (and this is ignoring the various forms of genocide in Africa going on RIGHT NOW), it's small potatoes compared to the other 'peak' events for slaughter. If you really wanted to grab folks' attention, you need to demonstrate on some level that you can flaunt the law until hundreds or thousands of people are dead in agony, not just a little more than a dozen.

Your theory holds no water. The tactic is simply not competent enough.

Now that I've made myself feel sufficiently morally filthy, I'm going to go take a shower and remind myself that I only think of these kinds of tactics because I DM for Shadowrun.
