Are you butthurt that he's not a "far right" hillbilly populist like Rick Santorum?

America is not a racist country, if racists exist in it, then they do, but racists exist in Europe and we don't call Europeans racist, racists exist in China and we don't call the chinese racist, or the Australians. Don't judge an entire nation by the actions and feelings of a tiny majority.
America is the least xenophobic country in history.
America has issues with sexism, that is fine, we are working those kinks out, and I don't even think it exists to the level those on the left say that it does.
America is not homophobic, though many homophobes exist and are largely christian, but one is not a homophobe for simply opposing gay marriage. that charge confuses things.
America is not islamophobic, we hate the worse of Islam which has culminated into a movement, and so should the rest of the world. If Christofacists were to arise in south america or here at home and did on par what fringe muslim jihadist movements are doing, we would appropriately hate them, so would the left, and so should christians world wide.
You don't have to love the status quo, but lets at least acknowledge what this status quo is.
Of course America is racist as is the rest of North America and Europe(this sort of issue affects the entire world). But American racism is asymmetrical. And contrary to feminist propaganda we really don't have isshoos with sexism any longer.
And DancingDanny, the kind of ridicule you describe is very much how societies function: There is a social order and people try to preserve it and one of the tools they have is to make social rules against criticizing society and questioning the Status Quo.

At least the new boss isn't a socialist marxist nutjob.
I think he's rather centrist actually. He really hasn't done anything all that radical. The GM bailout, which right wingers have been claiming is some socialist plot, is really no different from Reagans bailout of Chrysler, and the tax rate under Obama for the rich is actually lower than what it was under Reagan. The "Marxist" BS really just amounts to name calling and has no basis in the real world or among rational minded people. The same goes for the birther garbage. I think a lot of this attitude is due to racism and the fact people don't like that there's a black man in office.
That said, I'm not really much of a fan of Obama in that he broke a lot of his campaign promises and has continued a lot of the Bush era policies. I don't like him, because I don't think he's radical enough in some ways. The healthcare bill, too, helps the health insurance companies more than anyone else and bares a lot of resemblance to Bob Dole and Romney's healthcare plan proposals. Some radical leftist and liberator of the proletariat he is. I think he's been rather cooperative with the Republicans too, more so than they give him credit.
