wow that explains it then.

but you confuse the thoughts you have with the fact you can see what you are thinking.

it is the consciousness you have of your thoughts that make you think they are the same.

consciousness i believe can exist without thought.

Consciousness is thoughts. "Seeing" what you think is also a thought.

No energy was ever created.

Pure conjecture without any supporting evidence.

so when you die, whether you lived a life of extravagant luxury or whether you suffered the trauma of being a holocaust victim will seem insignificant. because it is not happening any more and it will never happen again.

if you pop out of consciousness and never are aware again, then it also will be insignificant as to the life you lived.

[Sarcasm] you see, peasant? No need to rise up against the church. Now give me your money and some little boys to molest [/sarcasm]

Seriously, your view of the world equalizes being a holocaust victim with being the concentration camp guard, making it all gods bigger plan - and life utterly meaningless to the individual, while keeping it meaningful in the context of a sacred secret plan.
That's even more horrible and depressing than being a bunch of atoms floating through the eternal void. At least in that case, no god planned the holocaust, just for fun.

Well that's not the best comparison to draw because the eyes are sensory organs where the brain processes information. Consciousness is not necessarily bound to the brain, perhaps it is but there is a growing body of evidence that it is not something that can be produced by lots of neurons firing.

Also the brain processes images from the eyes so consciousness may orchestrate information from the brain into meaningful experience.

People enter passive, mental states, with eyes closed and in sensory deprivation chambers. They do see and think things, even when reportedly braindead.

I'm sure you mean different people than the ones in sensory deprivation chambers, which do not generally cause brain death.
